Are the frames plastic or wood?

I believe it is wood. They are not plastic.

What is the adhesive on the back made from? is it natural or zero voc?

I would say it's just a general tacking glue. I purchased 2, I would not buy this again. The adhesive wasn't string enough and it came in a roll and was impossible to get it to lie flat after trying several different things over multiple days. I finally secured some if 1 roll to the wall with drywall screws. Don't buy it.

It's a little thicker than a 1/4"

Will it damage walls if removed?

I had originally placed the entire piece on a painted wall and then removed several inches off of it after it being up for about a week and the paint did not come up from the wall.
