## Description

For dogs under 65 pounds. Contains 3 pieces of multiple sized chews. Himalayan dog chew comes from an ancient recipe of the people of the Himalayas. It is made using traditional methods with yak and cow milk and all natural products and no chemicals or preservatives. Himalayan dog chew is made by boiling the milk and coagulating it in such a way that all lactose is transferred in the whey with almost "zero" lactose in the resulting cheese. After separating the whey from the cheese, it is dried and cooked in warm smoke for months to get rid of all the lactose, or is broken down to easily digesting lactose and glucose. Hence after 4 1/2 months of process the lactose free chewing treat that contains all other milk component is made for the four legged ones. Now they can chew on milk. Whether the canine is growing or grown, just as all mammals need to drink milk and Himalayan dog chew is the best and only way of introducing milk nutrition to them in the way they like - which is chewing, not drinking.

Review: The only treat that actually lasts with my power chewer! - If you have a dog that treats "long-lasting" chews like a light snack, you need to try these. I’ve gone through so many different bones and sticks, but these yak cheese chews are the real deal. They are incredibly hard and dense, which is perfect because it actually takes my dog a significant amount of time to work through one. Why I keep these stocked: Truly Long-Lasting: Unlike rawhide or softer chews that are gone in ten minutes, these keep him occupied for a good hour or more. Zero Mess & No Smell: One of my favorite things is that they don't get slimy or leave a gross scent on my carpets. They are very "clean" for such a heavy-duty chew. The "Puff" Hack: When the chew gets down to a small nub (the "choke hazard" size), you can pop it in the microwave for about 45 seconds. it puffs up like a giant cheese cracker! It's so satisfying to let him finish the very last bit safely. Natural Ingredients: I feel much better giving him 100% natural cheese rather than something filled with chemicals or mystery "meat" products. They are definitely a premium treat, but for the amount of peace and quiet they buy me, they are worth every penny.
Review: Awesome...just be careful when the pieces get small - I stopped giving my dog rawhides after learning how bad they are (the bleaching process, how indigestible they are, etc). I transitioned to bully sticks and other natural treats, but they NEVER last long. My dog is a pretty good chewer, even though she's only 30 pounds. I saw these chews in a pet store, and while it was expensive, I decided to give it a try. My dog LOVED the chew. It took her at least 45 minutes to eat half of it...I took it away and gave her the other half the next day. If only these weren't so expensive!!! Pros: made of natural materials, long-lasting, not smelly, and when you get to the small pieces, you put them in the microwave for 45 seconds and it "puffs" into a completely easy-to-eat treat. Cons: small pieces are not digestible. After I got the Himalayan chew from the pet store, I bought the mixed pack (11.5oz) from desertcart as a more cost-effective solution. I got 2 big chews and 2 small pieces. I gave my dog a small piece, thinking it would buy me a good 20 minutes, and she ended up splitting it/eating it, and then puking it up for the next 2 days (always between 2-4am, of course). With these chews, you really need to watch for when the pieces get small and then put them in the microwave (as mentioned before) to make sure your dog is not harmed (I am lucky that she has no intestinal/stomach bleeding from eating the pieces and puking them up). It's a great once-in-awhile treat for my dog, and I will definitely buy more in the future. I highly recommend them, but again, watch your dog when the piece starts to get small. Prevent your dog from getting ill by following the instructions on the bag and microwave the "nub" that's left. Your dog will love that piece too!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Where are these made?**
A: Hi,I just spoke to a very nice customer service rep at the company itself. The chews are made from yak milk, cow milk, a little salt, and some lime. The 'chews' were originally, and still are made for human consumption in Nepal. The way they came about as a dog chew is that a man was making his 'chews' and he dropped one and his dog loved it! So, the Himalayan Dog Chew is made in Nepal by Nepalese yak and cow farmers who have been very well trained in how to make a treat that is up to our standards here in the U.S. They have their headquarters in Washington State and in fact the owners are from Nepal. If you'd like to read more go to their site at: www.himalayandogchew.comBy the way, my vet sells these in her office too a little more spendy though -- Also, I'm happy you asked your question, my Josi is due for a new package! Best wishes for a Great Holiday and a very happy dog! Joni

**Q: How long are these? Could they be broke or cut in half to make 2 out of 1? I have multiple dogs and it may be less expensive to do that rather than buy them all one or a smaller one each. Especially since it would be their first one and don't know who will like/dislike them, or have a reaction to them, ie, tummy ache, …**
A: they're each approx 6 inches long. You're def not breaking these by hand. It may be possible to cut with a good knife (or a saw would work)...i've never tried and don't have any on hand currently to try...but they are very hard, like a bone, and soften a bit as they chew. I give to my 10 mo old 65lb pup for about 1/2 hour at a time and it will last about 4-5 "chewing sessions". She loves them and chews diligently on them when provided. Only allowing her to chew in 30-45 min increments, I've not had any negative bowel, stomach reactions :0)

**Q: How long does one chew last? I have a moderate chewer (30lbs lab mix)**
A: They don't last long for my 6 3/4 lb Pomeranian. She loves them, but she will finish an entire chew (the size recommended for the 65lb dog) in a day. So, you must only allow them to have this chew for an hour or two as the calorie content would be too much as a treat. They are a nice hard chew for dogs. Not as hard as an antler but they don't present the risk of breaking teeth that you will have with antlers or the risk of splintering that you can get from the deer and elk antlers (not so much with the moose flat antlers).

**Q: I have had little success microwaving small pieces of these chews. Maybe one in tem puffs up. Any ideas why?**
A: Hi! I would recommend microwaving it after your dog has chewed it down to about 2 1/2" inches or so....if it's a little damp it'll poof up better! But even so I've microwaved ones dry and they always puff up. Just micro on high for 15 second intervals until you see it bulge but not so long that it smells burnt. Also, I'd give it your dog initially with one end stuck in a Medium size Kong. It'll help them hold it better and also prevent any swallowing whole incidents that other people mentioned in their posts. We do this every time and haven't had any issues...enjoy!
