ID MAX 12
Got this sub a couple days ago. Still in break in period but already when it goes low this thing is a beast. It’s in a 1.87 sealed on a crossfire 1700 at 2 ohms. Had a stereo integrity before this. It hung in there for almost 5 years. It was a good sub also.

Underwhelming
I made the audiophile spec box ID provided. It does sound very very good, but $500 good? Not even close imo. It also has very limited power handling, I swear if you give it 1001 watts it will start to stink. I just assumed like most of the other high quality brands the power rating were conservative. If money is no object, yes these sound great. If budget matters at all, I highly recommend getting a sub for half the price with the same power handling and you’ll probably barely notice a difference.

Low frequency champion
It is sad that there isn't more information about Image Dynamics subwoofers out there. I've experienced two of their subs and they are both so very good. They have the long excursion to move more of that air. The current trend of huge low sensitivity subs needing massive power is unnecessary. I'm feeding this 85db IDMAX 12 about 700 watts at 4 ohms and it makes my hair move. This sub is capable down low. Like subsonic low. 2 inch excursion. I have it in a D4S box 2 cube 32hz. The transient response is excellent. Very fast frequency transitions. Would also make a great home theater woofer.Yes this is an expensive speaker yes but if you're looking for the sound quality sub that plays crazy loud this is the one you've been looking for.In the picture with two subs it is this 12 vs a IDQ8. That 8 hits pretty hard and I love it too. More of a sharp stabby punch you in the back of the face kinda bass. In a SUV with cabin gain mind you. Still quite loud. Shook the mirror slightly. Putting the 8 in a different car and keeping it in the family.

Best subwoofer ever
I had the IDMAX 12 in my GS400 for 20 years, driving it with a 500W RMS Class-D amp. This thing does everything well. Hits hard, really well controlled, produces VERY accurate bass. Its dynamics allow it to reproduce drum hits that are so realistic, you'll think the drummer is in your car. The only sub that can keep up with this is a JL W7.
