Finally a solution that's not an eye sore!!
Not only was my Mercedes lacking in cup holders or storage space but the fact that I couldn't find a decent place to put my phone while driving was making me go crazy. I had tried numerous solutions. MISSION=Find a functional phone mount that looked as close to factory as possible. ATTEMPT #1: I purchased a phone holder that stuck to the dash via 3M tape that kept getting knocked off because it took up so much space. It was like an arm protruding from my dash that just wanted to poke me at the least optimal time. It was an eye sore. STATUS=FAIL ATTEMPT #2: I purchased a smaller phone holder that plugged into the cigarette lighter. This worked ok but was still bulky and didn't have the factory look I was aiming for. STATUS=FAIL ATTEMPT #3: This ones laughable. I decided to try a dash mat after seeing how well they worked in a friends boat. Excited, I found the perfect sport just under my radio. I tore the package open, "stuck" it to my dash and watched in disappointment as it slide down my dash like under-cooked spaghetti. My fiance found this humorous. I began trying to get it to stick anywhere and eventually resorted to tossing it against my dash like spaghetti against a refrigerator. No luck. It wouldn't stick to anything. STATUS=BIG FAIL (VENT CLIPS-I decided to forgo this option because I think they are the dumbest idea ever. I'm all set with sticking my phone in front of a heater. Phones aren't suppose to get hot.) ATTEMPT #4=I accidentally came across the Steelie Car Mount and was intrigued by its size. It was the most expensive phone mount I've come across thus far but also appeared to be the most promising after reading all the reviews. I had to buy it. Aside from the magnetic ring that looks rather out of place on my phone, this thing is awesome. I mounted it in my car in the same spot that the dash mat was suppose to go, between the stereo and heater controls. It's very functional and looks great. It's definitely worth every penny. The only improvement I would like to see, is a decrease in the size of the phone magnetic mount or at least offered in other colors so it's less noticeable on. STATUS=MISSION COMPLETE ----------------------UPDATE----------------------------------------------- I've had this for a couple months now and still love it. One thing I never thought of when purchasing this was, will it interfere with my wireless charger? I tested this out and it will work but I wouldn't recommend it. The magnet gets ridiculously hot, so hot you can't touch it which could be a potential fire hazard. I, also, travel a lot and one night I had my phone in my pocket along with my hotel room key. When I returned to the hotel my key wouldn't work. The magnet on the phone wiped the data on the room key.

Very strong magnetic 🧲 attraction. Phone does not fall off over bumps or potholes
Hands down the best phone mount I have ever used. The small diameter base allows you to attach to almost anywhere . The magnetic back piece being on the phone is also convenient. I slap my phone on the refrigerator when I'm in the kitchen now!

This thing is nearly perfect! (**UPDATE -- But careful with your credit cards!)
This thing ROCKS. I'm a Realtor and mom of 2 kids, so I spend tons of time driving in town and following GPS on my iPhone. It's difficult to drive safely and see the map, especially when I have clients in the car who expect me to appear to know where I'm going! I like to get a visual of where to turn even with the voice directions on, especially in town where turns are close together. A colleague of mine had a Steelie in her car and I decided to try one. I hadn't seen anything that looked like it would have a strong enough hold and could be adjusted easily so the screen is always in view. I was hesitant to stick the magnet on the back of my phone case, but it's right in the center and it's actually comfortable to put my finger there when I'm talking or texting. It's also cool because I can stick the phone to my fridge or vent fan in the kitchen when I'm cooking or cleaning, stick it to the side of the washer when I'm doing laundry, etc. It keeps it out of the way so it doesn't get misplaced or get dirty/wet. I was also concerned about attaching something to the dash in my car. It's a 2015 Altima so there's not a big, flat dash space within easy reach, and I am short, so not much reach! I placed it above one of the middle air vents. I can reach it without stretching too much, I can see it without looking down or becoming distracted, and my charger cord reaches easily. The only downer is that the bottom of my iPhone (5) hangs over the vent a little bit, but it isn't a big deal. When I have the AC cranked up high I just turn the phone so it's in a "landscape" (?) position and I can still see everything fine and enjoy the AC. When the phone isn't attached to it, the Steelie ball doesn't stand out at all. It looks like it's supposed to be there, if you notice it at all. I love it. Well worth the twenty bucks or whatever I paid. UPDATE after a month or two of use-- Be careful about putting your phone into your pocket or purse if you have credit cards in there. I usually carry my debit card in my wallet, but hastily stuck it in my front pocket a few weeks ago, and then stuffed my phone-- and the magnet-- into my pocket as well. My debit card's magnetic strip was erased. I don't know yet but I may have done the same thing to two different restaurant gift cards that were in the console of my car. Guess I'll see when I send the gift cards to pay the check! I am still very happy with this item, but I am more thoughtful about keeping it away from my cards. It would be useful if there was something I could place over the magnet to block it when it's not in use, but I guess I just have to remember it.

Steelers rock! and so does the Steelie!
I love those product. I considered getting another one that used a washer on the phone so the magnet was on the mount but wanted twice the amount. Also the mount swiveled and I thought that would wear out over time so hear I am with the Steelie. I love magnets first off so I really liked the concept upon seeing it, the orb look. As one reviewer stated, if you're having a problem with it sticking to a surface, you're not reading the simple directions, which are to clean the surfaces with provided alcohol wipes (do it reeeeeeally good), let dry. Peel adhesive backing (maybe this was the problem) from mounts and apply firmly to the center of phone and wherever on your dash or whatever. THEN...wait 24 hours to let adhesive set up. And that's it. I drive a truck so I wanted to see it it would hold up to the vigorous bouncing and it does so normal small cars and trucks with wouldn't be a problem. It does tilt down with good bumps but so what, the screen is still visible and it doesn't hurt me to reach out and tap it up onto position. The magnet that mounts to your phone is the size of a penny and sits 2 1/2 pennies high so quite small. This was a concern of mine because I use a Unicorn Beetle case and the back is not uniformly smooth. The magnet fits just right. Personally I like the way it looks. One thing I might do if I mounted again is place the magnet dead center (I placed it just above center) or maybe even slightly lower than center to compensate for bounces that sometimes cause it to tilt down. But so far, I'm very happy with the Steelie.

It WILL cause your phone's GPS/compass grief
I really did want to give this 5 stars. But, due to the 1 con below, 4 is as high as I can give. First off, before I run through the pros/cons, I installed this on a brand new 64gb iPhone 6+. PROS This thing's magnet is STRONG. There is no doubt in my mind that my phone is going to stay attached to the ball on the dash. There's no wobble or vibration when driving. And the looks are far better than any other mount out there; trust me, I've either researched them to death or bought them. Hands down, this is the strongest mount I've found that doesn't look like you've scabbed together pieces of an old erector set on your dash. CONS This thing's magnet is TOO strong, at least for my phone. It WILL affect the GPS. I spent over an hour doing random tests of the phone in and out of the case I attached the magnet to. What I concluded, is that with the magnet secured to the case of the phone, I was constantly having to calibrate it. If you ever close a map app, or any map I used that uses the GPS, you will certainly need to recalibrate the compass again. Other weird issues were that with the magnet attached, it would show I was driving backwards, sideways, North was South, East was West, etc. You could calibrate the compass, and for 5-10 minutes, things would seem to go right again, but, it would always get mucked up and show you were traveling in quite an impossible manner. Another con, which I'm hesitant to add, but, needs to be mentioned... Is that for any case that's split (as in the top slides over the phone's top, and the bottom over the the bottom of the phone, and t connects int he middle), you may have a bad time of the phone slipping out of the case. The case I have is a BB Pt case. You really have to make sure the snap part connecting the 2 halves of the case are secure after putting it on the magnet, otherwise the weight of the phone will pull it out of the top part of the case, leaving the top part of the case securely affixed to the dash steel ball, while the phone goes on an unfortunate plinko drop over everything on your dash, ending up in the floorboard. Yes, this is the fault of the case and NOT the steely mount, but, again, it needs to be mentioned. In conclusion, this is a GREAT looking mount, that holds just about anything within reason securely to the ball mount, without having some gaudy contraption glued and screwed all over your dash. But, no matter what Nite Ize says on their site, you'll be fighting GPS accuracy and constant compass calibration issues. I will also add, that the iPhone 6+ is just nearly too big for this particular mount. I personally would recommend the larger magnet, which will still rest properly on the steel ball mount when mobile.

Look no further this is the best mount ever.
This is my 3rd unit. My 1st unit I got about 10yrs ago and I’m still using it, I’ve changed cellphones several times and still using this same magnet. I also used on gps and satellite radio mounted on dash. This is highly recommended and am not looking for any other fancy mounts.

Great idea but awkward in real life.
First of all, I have the Galaxy Note 3. I keep it in a hard case. You have to permanently attach a somewhat small magnet (the size of a quarter and thickness of about 3 quarters) to the case (or battery cover??? not me!) and permanently attach a little ball magnet to your car. Everything is made of extremely high quality materials so no complaints there! So what are the cons? Well, if the magnet on the phone is not perfectly centered, the phone will tilt to the side of the phone that's heavier. With a large phone such as the Note, (or a small tablet) this is an unavoidable problem. Next, when you plug in a charging cable or auxiliary cable, the phone sags in the direction of the cable. Next I noticed that the magnet completely screws up my GPS. I bought this so I could mount my phone to my dash and use google maps but that's a no go, because the GPS works fine without the magnet, but jumps around (and I mean JUMPS AROUND) with the magnet in place. Next, since my Note 3 has a digitizer under the screen and uses the Samsung "S Pen", the magnet screws up the sensitivity of the S Pen. I have to take my hard case off every time I want to use the pen. Very inconvenient, and I find myself avoiding the use of the pen because the case is not super easy to take off. Why did I buy the Note 3 if I'm not going to use the S Pen!?!?! Other than that, it works as you would expect. It mounts the phone to the dash just like the picture shows. It's up to you if the Pros outway the Cons. You basically can mount the phone and and use bluetooth to stream music or handsfree calling, but GPS and Note users may as well pass this up ;)

Best mount I've ever seen or used...
Easily the most elegant car mounting solution I've ever dealt with. The plate attachment on the back of the phone isn't the most fetching accessory I've ever seen but you can't argue with the effectiveness and ease of use. Completely outclasses any suction cup, plastic grip mounts I've ever seen and I envisage it lasting a long time. Also the magnet on the back of the phone is great for sticking it to the fridge.

Doesn't hold larger phone in place.
Magnet slips on the metal sphere. High price and Useless.

Best cellphone mount I've ever owned!
Pros: Everything! This is the best car mount I've ever owned! I bought one, then after showing my wife and sister they both had to have one as well. They work great and take up very little space in the truck/car. The piece that sticks to my phone does not bother me either, it does not protrude very much at all (about 4mm). I have not noticed any issues with the phone due to the magnet being attached. Cons: The only concern I have is with the one I bought for my sister, we tried to mount it on a more textured surface on her car's dash board, it did not stick properly, and fell off. The adhesive would not stick to anything else after that. I don't know if this is because the adhesive came like that, or if it was because we tried to stick it on a textured dash board. Because of this I had to buy more adhesive tape. I did not want to buy online since it was way too expensive for replacement pads, so I read a bit online and found out that 3M Scotch 4011 exterior mounting tape is basically the same thing. I bought a roll for $4.99 (Home depot), and used it to stick the ball to another spot in my sisters car (a smoother area). It worked like a charm, and I have used the tape around the home as well so it wasn't a waste.

Super Praktisch
