Garmin 12-Volt Adapter Cable

This is perfect for a replacement or as a second power cord to move from vehicle to vehicle. It is made by Garmin so you know it is going to work with no problems. I would recommend to anybody and I have had no problems. Also, as "Cake Lady" stated earlier in her review, it does not have the FM tuner built into the power plug as it does not state that it does. I do not know why somebody would think that it is a FM tuner/power cord when it states nothing about FM tuning abilities for the traffic allerts, but I guess it happens to people that do not read the description. Again, Great Product at a great price. Enjoy! Also, just fyi, the package states the following as I was not absolutely sure for what products it will work with...so, works with; nuvi 5000,800 series, 705T series, 700 series, 600 series (I have the 660), and zumo series. Again, that is per the package from Garmin.

I have a Garmin Nuvi 650 - This charger works exactly how it should, but remember that you need the little mount that hooks onto the Garmin GPS (used for mounting to the windshield) in order for the charger to be plugged in. The charger doesn't plug directly into the GPS unit itself and I almost flipped when I couldn't find a slot to plug the charger into! Even though I don't use (or recommend) the window mount anymore, I'm glad I kept the little bracket that connects to the back of the GPS - otherwise this charger would be useless. Besides that little scare, this charger is perfect. Never leave home without one!

These cables get lost so easily in a cluttered garage. Fortunately, this guy did the trick. Works great- haven't had any problems with it at all, and appears more durable than the original one that came with the GPS. I'm not sure what the fuss is with everyone claiming that it breaks easily. I've used mine a lot since I bought it, and have yet to experience any problem with it. I do like that its length is quite long, so I can charge it anywhere I'd like to in the car. I will also mention that I don't subscribe to the traffic service, so it doesn't make a difference to me whether the cord notifies me about that stuff or not. Others claim that the cord fails to do this, whereas the original doesn't fail to do this, so please take this into account. This cord also works with several other Nuvi models that I own (I usually use the 660). Hope this helps; please let me know if you have any more questions.

I ride a BMW GS1200R Adventure motorcycle and it came with a BMW Navigator IV GPS (Garmin). By contacting Garmin Customer Service I was able to get this part # and research the best price and availability to buy a mount to use it in my truck. Why spend more money on another GPS device when the one off my motorcycle works in an automobile? Yep, I bought the mount here so it would work in my truck. It works great, along with the separate DC Power cord and a Friction Mount to ride on the dash. Makes it easier to pick up and get it out of view when I am not using it in the truck or have walked away. Great product.

I bought the Garmin 765 late last year and until about a month ago only got to use it in my truck and car where the MONSTER traffic cable was not a real issue. However, my main purpose for the 765 was to use it on my motorcycle since it allowed multiple point custom routing letting me tell it where to go on the less traveled roads. Hence, my need for traffic information was little to none as I also live in a rural area. Managing that MONSTROSITY of a power cord was difficult on the two wheeler. I tried using the mini-USB port for power with a genuine Garmin power supply but found that it would cause my 765 to go into "office mode' with half brightness and what my mother used to call "indoor voice" half volume. Not good in bright sunlight and noisy outdoors. This item fixed that problem entirely giving me full volume and full brightness with a manageable cord on my bike. Happy days for only $16 and it works very well with a thin cord like a normal car power supply. This is not a genuine Garmin product. It says made in China but says Garmin nowhere on it. But, truth be told, the monster traffic cable that came supplied in the box with the brand new 765 says made in Taiwan tho it also says Garmin on it so what's the difference? The difference is YOU save by buying this one which is wonderful. I just ordered a second one for my truck. I'll keep the monster cable but will probably use it - never? To those folks who complain about the business end coming apart on their power supplies, that is how these car lighter items are built. All of them. The caps require tightening frequently but you can solve that problem by removing the cap and applying a dab of nail polish on the threads then screwing the cap back on to prevent it loosening but allowing you to still change the fuse if needed.

Both plugs fit as expected and the device powers up properly. The cable appears to be of high quality so it should last a while. The plug on the GPS side of the old cable pulled apart so I ordered a new one. This occurred after 4 or 5 years of hard use. We had the GPS unit on one of the weighted sandbag mounts so it was constantly sliding off the dash. I've since replaced the sandbag mount with a permanent stuck-on mount so I expect to have fewer issues with this cable than the last. This cable does not support the traffic features of some Garmin units.

My Garmin Nuvi 785T came with a traffic receiver (GTM 20) that somehow came apart and the parts were lost (?grandson?). It wouldn't charge the Nuvi, but the traffic receiver worked. I ordered this item from Amazon, hoping to disassemble it and use parts (because the replacement GTM 20 was $88 to $120). When it arrived I unscrewed the top, removed the "spacer ring" and the fuse, then put them into the GTM 20. I then screwed the top from the ordered item into the GTM 20. The fit was very tight and threads perhaps slightly different...but IT WORKS. Prior to taking it apart, I had tested it for charging the Garmin and it worked fine for that as well. Very pleased with the money saved and the results.
