Deal with the smell
To respond to the reviewers that were put off by the smell of the paste. Yes, it is strong when you open the package. I was surprised at first. But when boiling the mixture, the smell went way down. By the time the whole thing was ready to eat, the bad smell was gone. The dish is delicious, but not for everyone. I have friends who could not handle it. Try a single package first.

Very good
This is the best ramen I have ever eaten. A little spicy ( I don’t usually like spicy- nor does my digestive system) but very savory, too. The noodles have a great texture, a little firm but you can also cook a little longer to soften them. It says that they are shrimp flavored but I don’t find that to be true. The coconut powder thickens the sauce and I do add chopped cooked shrimp for the last minute of cooking. I tame the spicyness with a little sour cream after I take it off the stove. No microwave instructions, you have to use stove top. It makes 2 servings, or 1 large. Also leftovers refrigerate well and will reheat in the microwave well.

The Best Ever!
The best ramen I've ever tried and easily worth the bit of extra money. I like reducing the broth to nearly the level of sauce so thick it sticks to and coats the noodles. Mmm-mmm good!

A bit pricey for something "Okay" with a little "Meh" mixed in.
I wasn't sure if I wanted to give this a 2 or 3 star. I went with 3 because it tastes okay. The noodles are good, the finial product tastes okay. The smell is pretty rank. half (or less) of enjoying a meal is smell. How can I describe the taste... It's sweet, spicy, with a hint of some odd musty flavor. It seems like coconut flavor, but mixed with the other flavors.. it's odd. At just over 3 dollars a pack, I'll pass on this in the future.

Smells and tastes like a poorly kept petting zoo. Bad.
Not good. It's difficult for me, because I don't like to waste food, but this was disgusting. In order to eat it, I had to add green onions and copious amounts of lemon juice to "wash away" the flavor that came from the shrimp paste packet. Unfortunately I got 18 packets of these. If I keep the remaining packets, I will not be using the paste. The noodles are fine (somewhat like udon), and the coconut is just sweetened dry coconut milk. The paste is the problem. As soon as I smelled it, I started to worry. Straight from the packet, the odor was like wet, dirty dog. As it cooked, it was more like elephant, or a horse's stable at a county fair. I left it sit a while, hoping the flavors would meld into something tasty. But you can taste that elephant-excretions-on-straw odor, and the smell remains as well, though blunted by coconut. I couldn't eat it at all without the lemon. The taste of that smell is kind of nauseating even with the lemon masking it. I'd recommend people try a very small amount of this, not buy a multi pack. The most disappointing food item I ever recall having tried. I hope it doesn't make me sick. And I hope the odor doesn't linger in my mind, but I suspect it will.

Really good.
This its delicious! I am not a fan of the smell while cooking, but once done its really good. The closest I can describe the flavor it its like a coconut shrimp curry. Just 7 minutes and the noodles are perfect. I add some sesame oil on top and some Chinese broccoli for texture but its because I like some bite on my food. Bought it after ready an article on the NY Times about the best instant ramen. I choose 5 different options, this was the best.
