Cheated of the benefits of HRT. Long overdue scientific reassessment of this subject.
I have lived through the sensationalism triggered first by oral contraceptives and then HRT. After ten years of HRT, with massive benefits to my health and well being, I developed breast cancer, which was treated successfully. However, I have now experienced 11 years of suboptimal health because HRT was incorrectly considered unsafe and was demonised by dramatic misrepresentations of the risks.I now realise I have missed the important window when I would have gained the most benefit from HRT with the least risk of any harm. Effectively I have been denied the benefits that long term HRT would have conferred and restarting now after ten post menopausal years involves risks that I could have so easily avoided. This book sets out the scientific evidence very clearly and hopefully will ensure that younger women are not denied this highly beneficial treatment option as a result of misconceptions and ignorance in the medical profession and in the general population.I have been an unwilling guinea pig in an unwarranted circus of medical and media sensationalism and misrepresentation.

SO IMPORTANT
I read this book after hearing him speak on Woman's Hour. I am 74 yrs old - used HRT for 30 year and improved my life 100% - won't bore you with the details but had bread cancer 3 years ago and put on various medication to get rid of any oestrogen in my body - have suffered SO MUCH from these meds have made my own decision to come off them Read this book and consequently would love to go back on HRT but my doctor refuses to prescribe. I feel sure the type of trials described in the book will be in the UK in 5-10 years time but of course it will probably be no use to me - I just feel ALL women should know the facts - so important for a good life.

Misleading about fundamental biology differences between synthetic and bioidentical hormones
I am researching sex hormones issues estrogen dominance and i've consumed most books and studies done in the last 3 months. The way this books is written is patronising and awarely misleading in promoting HRT based on Premarin (horse estrogen) and Provera (progestin) as if it was providing the kind of hormones we have, trying to ridicule bio identical and their safety implying the "unsafety" of hormones comes from their nature of being hormones rather than the biological different structure of molecules in synthetic vs bioidentical hormones. The authors tries to blame it on feminism and their demands to have control over their bodies" (see attached image) and associated bioidentical hormone replace therapy with unscientific mumbo jumbo when in reality, specialised medical doctors have written extensively about the molecular biological differences of synthetic and bioidentical, professionals with as many if not more qualifications than this author. I find it hard to believe these misinformation is to be out of ignorance so what's left is problematically misleading. Attaches you find examples of the patronising tone and incorrect information along with correct information especially about molecule structure differences from bookd by Dr Gluck OBGYN and Dr Lee MD. I will return this book.

Wonderful book that debunks adverse info about HRT and discusses its many benefits
This book should be required reading for all GPs and gynaecologists. It fully investigates how the false adverse conclusions of the WHI reports came to be published, which made headlines and caused so many women to stop taking HRT to their detriment. It discusses all aspects of the benefits of oestrogen as regarding osteoporosis, post-menopausal heart disease, stroke, etc. and backs it up with diverse studies and full references. The highly qualified authors have no financial interest in any pharma cos. They wrote this book to help women, not to make money.

An important book
This book works through all the conflicting reports on HRT and tries to get to the truth. And the truth they expose is that the fears of HRT are mostly unfounded. An essential read for women struggling with the symptoms of menopause and looking for some help getting to the bottom of HRT.
