Better for being seen in the dark than for helping you see. I'd say 6 meters is pretty accurate for how far it illuminates, but it's visible from much further away. **Q: What deep can resist?** A: Package says 1 meter for 30 minutes **Q: Would this work well to clip to my dog so I can see him (and cars can see him) in the dark?** A: It should clip to a dog collar just fine. The caribeaner is a mini measure 1 1/2 inches from outside bottom to top, and the gate opening is about 5/8 inches. It clips to the molle strap on my pack with no trouble at all. The light is well worth the money, its durable and bright. **Q: Does it turn on automatically when submersed?** A: Not that i know of.
