I agree with the 18" posted earlier. This chair is not comfortable for someone with short legs, unless you have some sort of foot rest.

Q: when the piston breaks...and they all do...i'm 250lbs and they all break...so, when the piston breaks...how hich is the chair off the ground?

I'm writing this while sitting in this WONDERFUL chair. I don't know the answer. My hubby is also 250lbs plus & also loves this chair, with the armrests. We've had it a couple years now, gets lots of use and have had no problems.
