These moonstruck kids had little farming experience and just a basic knowledge of winemaking. What they did have, in abundance, was a passion for growing the Pinot Noir grape and creating world-class wine. Soon after settling on this extraordinary land, they planted their first vines in 1971 and cinched their place as pioneers in what is now the epicenter of the Oregon wine industry. With the second generation now at the helm, siblings Alex (Winemaker and Co-President) and Alison (CEO and Co-President) continue their parents’ ‘good to the earth’ policy. A certified B Corp, Sokol Blosser Winery believes in practicing sustainability across its whole business. Examples include the winery’s certified organic 85 planted acres, LEED-certified underground barrel cellar and support for the well-being of its employees and community. For Pinot Noir to become a world-class wine, there must be a level of care and commitment that goes beyond that of any other varietal. At Sokol Blosser Winery, that includes careful handwork on each vine on our Dundee Hills estate, hand harvesting, fermentation in small lots and aging 16 months in French oak.
