Look out lunkers...
Lunkers beware... I always have a couple of these in my tackle box for those early summer evenings as the sunlight is fading, the bugs are coming out, and the bass are jumping for top-water. I've always loved the action and had great success with the jitterbug, and in the past few years have really come to love these jointed ones the most. You might be a little hesitant thinking that it's too large a lure for your little bass pond, but trust me... The action on these things drives the bass nuts, even smaller fish. It's worth it to me to have the extra weight of a larger lure so I can cast it really far. My only advice -- carry a couple spares. Nothing will make you cry like losing one of these in a tree, except maybe losing your ONLY jitterbug in a tree. ;-)

fish tear it up
I have loved this lure from my youth. Just got back from fishing it on dawn patrol. Caught two largemouth bass in the first ten minutes. An absolute joy to cast and hook fish with. But the durability...arrgh! After the second fish (both were in the two pound range, the lead hook had been torn off (screws ripped out) and the trailing treble was bent. I'm ordering two more but will change out the hooks and screws before using. An amazing low light lure but the quality of construction is questionable, at best.

Honest review from a fisherman
It's on the small side for bass. It's hard to go wrong with a jitterbug. Something is off on mine I will have to tinker with it. It's not getting as much movement as it should and I've been using these for 5 decades. I still recommend one but go up a size if your looking for bass. You might catch a crappie on this size.

It’s a Jitterbug
Been using Jitterbugs and Hula Poppers for over 45 years. Couldn’t beat the price of the 5/8 oz anywhere. The other sizes are average price.

Best topwater life for largemouth bass in Ohio.
This is literally the only lure I’ve ever used where I caught a fish on the very first cast. It’s awesome!

Fun Action, Fun Strikes!
Jitterbugs are my favorite lure, not my most successful, but the most enjoyable. If your not into the whole bait and wait game then this guy is for you. You wont catch as much, but when you do its an adrenaline rush to see that surface strike! The only issues you'll run into is that you can't (or shouldn't) add weight to the line to get more distance since that will mess with the action of the lure, so you're limited in how far you can cast this guy.Another issue I repeatedly have is when I do go for distance the hooks along the body tend to get caught up in the line. It happens perhaps once every 8 casts or so and can be a buzzkill.

Great Lure Has a Flaw On 4 1/2" Model
On the 4 1/2" Model the large hook in the rear gets stuck and won't move unless you reshape the hook holder or replace the hook with a smaller one and if you remove screws it strips very easy ! Otherwise it would be great !But this is a Major Flaw !

Jitterbugs are great, I suggest the smaller one.
It's weird, I catch bigger fish when using the smaller non-jointed jitterbug. I don't know if its the size of this one, the extra clatter noise that it will make, but I catch half as many fish. I still catch twice as many fish as any other lure in tackle box (excluding the smaller jitterbug).Side note, most of my fishing is in rivers. I still pull 5-6 pounders out but never with this. More pond/lake fishing might yield better results but nothing as of yet.

I'll keep trying
I heard so many good things about jitterbugs and decided to get the jointed. I've fished it very early in the morning up north and didn't get any bites. Fished it slow...once in a while it will get tangled with the line on casts. For now I'd give it 3 stars.

Not pleased
Too light to cast more than 30 feet. Also so light that it is hard to "walk" back to the boat. Had a tendency to just skim across the top of the water.
