OMG it worked
OK I have dark brown almost black hair....but i dyed my hair with L'Oreal expertise.. the one with the all over dye, then you put on the highlights, in the french eclair color... it came out a dark reddish brown and the highlights were orange...so i found downtown brown and read every review...fast forward...got the dye used it 14 days after first dye job...oh put a protein treatment on the day before using downtown brown....I'm happy with color... the orange is now sandy blonde, honey blonde, the reddish brown color is several shades of light to medium light brown....my roots very close to my scalp however appear red but I think it will settle in.. its only been 3 days...I applied the dye to the ends first but decided i would just put it on the roots right after applying the dye to the length...then put a bag on my head and set the timer for 40 min.. I like the color and I'm surprised it came out because it says wont work on previously dyed hair and not to be used on highlights i hope this is helpful i used reviews to make my decision to re dye my hair good luck, when i do my touch up i think i will leave it in 10 more min let you know

Maybe downtown brown as down as it says?
Glad I did a test strand before dumping this on my head is what I’ll say. **ALWAYS DO A TEST STRAND** esp when using new chemicals on yourself. I’m a hairstylist and have had my license for 13 years. Do I know better than to use box color on my own hair? Yes. But I didn’t want to go to the salon shop and spend $80 just to color my massive head of hair. So I bought this and did a test strand. Based off my natural color level, I should've had no problem reaching the light brown color displayed on the box. So I bought 4 boxes, 3 for my whole head of virgin hair (yes, completely uncolored and waist length at that), and 1 for touch ups. When I got it I looked up the proper measurements for color vs developer for this particular product. It stated 1:2. So that’s what I measured. I found a good little section in the back and applied the color and left it for 45 minutes. It lifted probably 2 shades. I thought maybe I got an oxidized set so I opened another box and did the same and left it on for 60 minutes. Maybe lift 3 levels which just made it red/brown. I don’t have black hair mind you. I have a level 5-6, which is shown on the box is an example of a good level to start with. Idk I didn’t see in reviews who else it worked for. But years and years ago I used Féria blue/black and I loved it. So this was a bit disappointing. I ended up giving the color away to someone I know and gave them the warning and bleached my whole head 😅

Good color, healthy hair
A pleasant, natural dark color. Easy to apply. Hair stays beautiful and shiny. It washes out gradually, maintaining a natural-looking color. I trust L'Oreal.

L’Oreal Fiera
This is my favorite brand of hair dye ever. If you gave me the choice of having my hair done once by professional or I can get 10 boxes of this guy I would take the 10 boxes of this hair dye. It works for me and it takes 25 minutes every couple months it’s amazing.

Yes
I tried the hi lift loreal and it did nothing. This beauty has been a life saver for my money piece. Love the color, lift, smell,my hair wasn't damaged after and results were effective on black hair. It honestly is the best thing in a box for dyes. Not quite the same color on the box for downtown brown But the black roots have vanished and that was the goal. Yessssss happy purchase and repeat purchase

Hi-lift brown that actually works on dark hair — with the right expectations
Getting a cool-toned brown on naturally dark hair without going to a salon is genuinely tricky, and B61 is one of the few drugstore options that's formulated specifically for that. The hi-lift formula is designed to lift up to 3 levels while depositing color simultaneously, which is how you get that dimensional, multitonal result rather than a flat single-process look. The "downtown brown" shade reads as a cool, ashy medium-to-light brown — the kind of color that photographs well and doesn't pull orange or brassy in natural light. The included conditioner with Bonding Care Complex is a practical addition rather than a token afterthought — hi-lift color is more processing than a standard dye, so having something that addresses that immediately post-color matters. The vegan formula is a plus, and the "all hair types" label is accurate in the sense that it works across textures, though starting condition and natural depth will affect how the lift reads. Following the timing instructions carefully makes a real difference with this one. For the shimmer and highlight effect to show properly, some natural variation in your base color helps — it's designed to catch light across multiple tones rather than cover everything uniformly. Great value for a salon-style result at home, especially for anyone maintaining a cool brown between professional appointments.

Old ineffective product, dissatisfied customer
I’ve used this product many times with pretty good results but this particular box was likely old. No lightening effect at all. Wasted time and effort.very disappointing. The only thing good is it didn’t damage or dry out my hair and the conditioner smoothed and softened my hair.
