An Incredible Device That Reminds Me of a Huge Mistake
I bought this for our travel trailer, but have been using it at home a lot. I'll probably buy a second one for the trailer. I'm surprised how powerful it is given it's only a 120 volt device, but it's pretty much as fast as our higher end gas stove. Which is the mistake it reminds me of--I wish we'd gone induction rather than gas when we did our home remodel! We considered it, but went gas. As to this device, the controls are relatively simple. It has some pre-set heat ranges, but you can adjust up and down from those, say to get the perfect boil going. Like a gas stove, the food reacts quickly to a change in settings. I haven't played around with a lot of the other settings, but it does have settings to reduce the maximum wattage, which I think will be useful in the travel trailer, and it does have a timer setting which is both useful and somewhat of a pain. The timer is useful for the obvious reason, but the pain is that it has an automatic 60 minute timer, so you have to keep that in mind if you're doing a long project and extend the timer if necessary. Anyway, this is my first plug in induction cooktop, so I don't know what the more expensive ones do that this one doesn't, but I can't imagine they are much better. Update/Edit: Just wanted to note how much I love the precise temperature control on this. Last week I made my best pan fried oysters in my life! My dad would have been proud. And the scallops I cooked up were really good too (having them again this week). And another nice use just this morning. Needed to humidify the air so I started a pan of water boiling, turned the temperature down to 220 and set the timer for 30 minutes. Worked perfectly.

The best induction burner we’ve used.
This is third induction burner we’ve bought in the last two years. The other two quit for various reasons. This one is noticeably better than the others. This burner has a much better temperature adjustment. The first we bought basically had high, medium, low, and boil. It worked really well but you didn’t have a lot of room to adjust the temp. The second one showed the actual temperature but made huge jumps between the temps, like you could go from 260 to 212 to 150. On this burner you can change the temperature in increments of 5 - 10 degrees. It makes it so much easier to control how fast your food cooks. The magnetizing ring is bigger on this one. The other burners are big enough to sit a large pan on but the ring is so small that you can’t cook evenly. I do wish the ring on this pan was bigger than it is, but I think it is the biggest you can get and works really well. The controls on this burner are easy to use. It has some features that we don’t use like program cook and setting the cook time. We just use the basic buttons and the temp adjustment. All three burners require the pan to stay on the burner while the unit is on. The big difference is that if you lift the pan off the burner this one will beep once then pause cooking while the others will beep at you continuously and occasionally just refuse to turn back on. Lastly, this one is quieter than the others we’ve used. They all run a fan while cooking but the fan on this one is quieter and it turns off faster after cooking than the others did. The only thing I don’t love is the pause/clear button. I keep expecting to tap it once to pause cooking and tap again to resume cooking, but the second tap turns the burner off. There’s a separate start button that resumes cooking and turns the burner on. This is not a big deal and may not even be an issue for most people. There are five cooks in my home and we unanimously agree that this is the best burner we’ve had so far.

Who needs gas range when I can simply use this Powerful, Fast, and Shockingly Convenient
Who needs a gas stove or an outdoor burner when you have the Nuwave Precision Induction Cooktop? I cook a lot of fried fish and spicy dishes, and like most people, my kitchen vent doesn’t catch all the smoke or smell. So I started cooking on my deck using this cooktop, and it’s honestly one of the best purchases I’ve made. I plug it right into the outdoor outlet using a short extension cord, set it on my deck table, and I’m good to go. This thing heats FAST—it can simmer gently or sear at 450°F+ in seconds. It gives me gas-stove-level heat control without an actual flame. Perfect for frying fish, boiling, searing, or doing anything that normally stinks up the kitchen. The heat maintains in very accurate and precise temperature so it’s perfect for cooking food or desserts that need precision temperature. It’s awesome to maintain specific heat for fried food! My only “complaint”? I love it so much that now I want to replace all my pans and pots with induction-compatible ones… and I’m already considering upgrading to the higher-end Nuwave model. A few extra notes people may want to know: • Super easy to clean — wipe and done. • The surface does feel a little plasticky, which explains why some people complain about melting if hot oil splashes. I avoid issues by using a lid and wiping spills quickly. • Portable and lightweight, great for decks, patios, RVs, or backup cooking. • Heats more evenly than many gas burners I’ve used. I honestly wish I bought this years ago. I use it on my deck table almost every day, and it’s become my go-to for anything messy or smelly. Highly recommended.

Works very well, though temperature is off
The good: Noise not bad for the price. Looks great. Controls are easy to figure out without reading anything. Fairly solid - I feel ok putting my larger enamelled cast iron Dutch ovens on it. For higher temps like for oil fondue pot, where people are dropping their meats in it and cooling it down, it keeps up very well. The bad: I had initially hoped I could set it to 110F and let yoghurt culture in it, but even adjusting down to the lowest setting (100F) and 600W, it hits 116F. That’s a large margin of error. And that was when I was testing it with just water. Whenever I’ve checked the temp on a high quality thermometer accurate to +\- 1F, the liquids are always higher than the setting by several degrees. That said - great for hot pot or fondue in the middle of the table. Great for an extra burner with better temperature control than I can achieve on my gas cooktop.

Wonderful
Moved to a new apartment a few years ago. Almost burnt the place up on 2 different occasions as items would fall on the electric stovetop and somehow turn the knob to "on" at the same time! So I removed all the knobs, removed the burners, put a cover over the stovetop and put this induction cooktop on top. Now I feel safe and I also have extra counterspace at the same time. I've been using this for the past 2 years. Never had a problem. Love the safety features. Easy to understand controls. It's not as quiet as an electric stovetop, but the noise level is not that bad. Especially when you think of what you gain. Precise temperatures, consistent heat, controllable power, and it's so much safer than an electric stovetop or even a gas-powered stovetop with flames. Very durable. Nice size. I also think it's great for seniors to have, or anyone who can be forgetful about whether they've turned the stove off or not.

First time with induction
I tried induction for the first time and it was pretty neat! The pot got hot but the surface did not and the device itself didn't produce heat directly either! Though the device does have components that do get warm so there is a fan that runs when you use it to keep the components cool. This means that you don't have to worry about the surface you put the device on. That said, you do have to be mindful of magnetic surfaces or electrical devices being beat the cooker when in use. It works with electromagnets and coils to transfer heat to something within the electric field. While heat can only be transferred to things near the heater, the field itself ranges a little farther than that so you won't want your phone right next to it, probably at least a foot though they make a note of saying to make sure to keep things a few inches from the device so I would imagine a foot would be enough, though I'm not willing to test that... Make sure not to have it on a magnetic surface as well when in use. All that aside, it works well and I like having precise temperature controls. Funny enough, it isn't that much more difficult to make a pot/pan that works with induction so many pots and pans now adays have induction as a cooking option so many people probably don't even realize they can already use induction. The wattage controls makes it feel like a great item to have for camping when you might be somewhere where power is limited or perhaps making a large gumbo pot. It says that it can hold up to 50lbs so imagine even deep frying a turkey could be an option, all up to you. I plan to make Mac and cheese later but as a simple test, I heated a can of Spaghetti O's (basically soup). I had a hard time initially because I never pressed start. To start you need to either press start using default temperature) or set your temperature and press start. I imagine the program button also works as a start button since it will start a present, but I have no need for that right now. Either way, I like it so far. I picked this one over the other since it had more temperature control options and bigger is better. I figure I can get more use out of one I can use or anything than one that has a limitation, but if you wanted to get into induction, I would recommend either the gold or the flex. Hopefully if I have any issues later, nuwave will be helpful as other mark concerns.

Very good until it died. Buttons collapsed. Completely stopped working in under a year.
This is the very best portable induction hotplate for under a $1,000. But it will only last a year with every day use. There are many reasons this is so much better than every other portable induction hotplate. 1) It sears at 575 F°. Even the 1800 watt units don’t come close to doing that. They top out at 475 F°. 2) No other portable induction hotplate gives you 10 F° incremental control. 3) It provides uniform heat for pots with a 4” diameter base to pots with a 14” diameter base. 4) There are six dedicated buttons that allow you to quickly change temperature. 5) It allows you to melt chocolate and butter at 100 F°. 6) It’s quite. It was a terrific unit until it died. Buttons collapsed. Completely stopped working in a year of everyday use. I thought I could find something better for under a $1,000. There simply isn’t any other unit like this. You don’t need a unit that gives you 20 different power options. That’s ridiculous. You only need one power option and the ability to adjust the temperature. This is why all the other induction units are absolutely silly with all their different power settings. They are compensating because they can’t control the temperature.

Easy to use, easy to clean, and it WORKS!
Our new (to us) home included a fancy, all-glass-cook-top stove that defied all efforts to keep it clean. We bought this unit to reduce the times that we would need to use that fancy stove. This unit quickly became THE WAY to cook. We bought a second unit! That fancy glass top on the old stove now stays looking good, because it's now mostly used simply as a place to temporarily place a hot pot.

Great power
It's great and changed my mind about induction burners!! Big Cast Iron grill heated up very fast and kept heat very well during cooking.

Amazing!
This is my first induction cooktop and I am overall extremely impressed and very pleased. Cooked a stir fry this evening after receiving it a few hours earlier and could not be happier. I was initially worried there might be a high pitched noise like many reviews of other makes mentioned, but I was delighted to find there was very little noise at all (and I cooked at 1500w on high) other than a slight fan hum. My wok worked just fine on the 12” area and I believe most of my other existing cookware will also work. Very easy to clean and store, but I have a feeling it won’t be stored very often as it was really fun to use. The only question I have is where is the ‘off switch’… or is there one? I get that once you remove the cookware the heating area then turns off, but I haven’t figured out how to turn off the entire unit without having to unplug it each time. All kinds of new possibilities with this amazing gizmo. Very cool!

Best quality portable Induction unit out there
In the past 20 years, this is my 3rd one, only due to the other may be starting to fail a bit. It takes longer to boil water now, after using it for nearly 10 years, often on a daily basis. Since the price is quite high now in Canada, and the availability to purchase, is extremely limited, I decided not to wait, but buy a new one while I can, which always gives me a backup, should my 10 year old one bite the dust. So for now, this new one is a spare. I use mine so much, that I don't want to be without it at any time, thus made the purchase while I could. The heat distribution, timer, reliability are excellent on these. Hands down the best one to buy. L Scott, Ontario, Canada Oct 9-23

Great cooking temperature control
This cooktop is fantastic. For those who don't cook with gas and want to be able to reduce the heat on a pot or pan quickly, this is the tool. Also, it's great for food items that require certain temps, such as melting chocolate or for deep/shallow frying with fat.

Unfortunately I had to change my review with a not so favorable one.
I recently purchased the NuWave Gold Precision Induction Cooktop, and my first use was a complete success. I made a seared rare steak in a cast iron pan, and it was the best I’ve ever cooked, perfectly caramelized crust with a juicy, evenly cooked interior. Unfortunately, my second attempt, making chicken fajitas, changed my opinion. While the pan initially heated well for searing, after adding the chicken and later the vegetables, the unit lost temperature. Recovery time was much too long, leaving me with soggy, overcooked vegetables and average-tasting chicken. After researching, I found this is a common problem with the NuWave. I also ran a water test and discovered the heated area is smaller than the advertised 8-inch diameter. Because of these issues, I’m returning it for a refund.
