Beautiful, light, functionally accurate and high quality device. The only thing lacking is an expanded ballistic table, as the user materials do not have updated website links, and the expanded ballistic table for settings is not available. However, for sea level MOA and using an equivalent round; the range finder is accurate and solid with settings for common hunting rounds, as well as archery settings. For higher altitude above 5000 ft and at a target distance beyond 500 yards (mountain west big game like pronghorn or elk) consider a dope sheet, ballistic calculator, or get the OTR2500A instead. This device is easy to set up after downloading the user manual, is versatile, and warranty transferable. Great for rifle and archery. Highly recommend!

I purchased this range finder to replace a much older and shorter ranged unit from a different manufacturer. I purchased the Astra unit beccause of its longer range capabilities and very reasonable price. The unit I received was very well packaged and in perfect shape. When I took it to the field for testing, three things were immediately apparent. The optics are brilliantly clear - comperable to my best telescopic sights. Secondly, the ranging response time is extremely short - a great advantage for shakey old hands. Thirdly, The instructions (available on line) are very complete and easy to understand. I also find the angle compensation and display very useful. I shoot a wide variety of cartridges and look forward to exploring the units ballistic capabilities. Overall, I am most pleased with my purchase.

Very clear, decent quality, functionality is great, and it's very accurate. I have marked out many different ranges and it is spot on. My only complaint is that there is no pod mount threading...these rangefinder are very unstable at longer distances and hard to aquire on target well, so if you have the 1/4-20 thread you can get a 10" piece of all thread and make a balance stabilizer with it weighted at the bottom of the all thread that is of course removable. Other than that, I have ranged out to over 1700yrds reflective, 900yrds non, and have gotten holds out to around 340 so far. The magnification is pretty good for only 6×, and at this price point it serves for a decent back up...definitely looking forward to taking it out on an actual hunt

My buddy has a L_____d _X 2800 T_R/W rangefinder. I was going to get one but it seems that the big "L" is getting out of the rangefinder business. In searching around, I came across THIS. I am wondering if it is made by the same company that made the big "L" rangefinder. The size, layout, buttons, battery compartment etc are all arranged the same as the big "L". The features like Ranging Distance, LOS, Angle, Oled, etc are all the same or VERY close. (Even the lanyard attachment points are similar). This also has a FANTASTIC ballistics solution computer that is spot on for my 300 WM, 6.5 Creedmoor, 7mm Mag and 308! Superfast ranging too. Initially, I was concerned that it didn't have a tripod mount but after using it, I realized that it is SO fast, I don't think one is necessary. This thing DESTROYS the stigma of Made in CHINA. Top drawer, world class quality, features, ergonomics, optics, speed just blow that stigma out of the water. The only real thing that fits the Made in CHINA reputation is the price. About 1/2 to 1/3 less than the big "L" T_R/W rangefinder. Heck, this thing even has the SAME warranty as you-know- who's product. (Lifetime, transferable, handshake, no hassle) This is a 5 star, BUY WITH CONFIDENCE item in my opinion. OH, did I mention it also has an ARCHERY mode as well as a GOLF mode? Now, if only I could get this thing to tell me where I lost my keys.....

I have used many rangefinders over the course of my military and government special operations career. Some good, some not so good. The good ones have always came with a pretty steep price tag. My new Astra rangefinder not only performs like the super expensive ones I have used in the past, but it actually ranges out further than the pricey ones. AMAZING! Its also weighs less, which is a consideration for any outdoors person. You have to be ounce conscience with all your gear. I have already taken it to the range to shoot my long gun. I've been in the market for a good rangefinder for a while. I hunt, golf, and shoot long distances. I really wanted a rangefinder that would do it all. The Astra Optix OTX2400B does it ALL! This thing even has ballistics built in! The first thing I noticed when I used it was how amazing the glass is. The optical quality not only exceeds everything in its price range, but everything I've used 2-3x its price! The edge to edge clarity and brightness are amazing, and there is no chromatic aberration. I've tested it at dusk in low light and all I can say is WOW. The OLED display (red) has 5 brightness levels and is crystal clear. It is very accurate and super responsive. The readings are basically instant. I can't believe the value. The specs of this unit are way beyond anything you will find in double the price range.
