JANNIK Peaceful Pet Memorial Keepsake Chest, Large, Mahogany

It has been two years this month since my dog passed and I still think of her fondly and miss her. I have had her cremated remains in the tin container the vet place gave me and Finally I am able to honor my dog's memory with this lovely keepsake chest. I was looking for a photo urn and this worked out great. The bag of ashes fit perfectly with room to spare. I measured the dimensions of the bag of ashes prior to purchasing the LARGE chest to make sure it would fit. The measurements of the chest is in the description of it. My dog was a lab/retriever mix and weighed 65lbs. I have put a photo of her in the easy slide in photo space. I also bought a brass plate which I bought separately from another place and got it engraved with my dog's name and dates. The finished results looks professional and It looks really nice on my mantel piece or on a shelf. Even with the cost of the plate and the engraving and the price of this memorial chest it still adds up to less than the prices charged by other online places for pet urns with engraved plates.I went to [...] and got the 2 inch x 0.5 brass plate which fits perfectly on the section below the photo on the chest. Or you can go to a local trophy shop and get a plate made up for you.Just to add I did eventually get another dog and she is a delight and is a great friend. I hope to have her for a long time just like our other dog and hope it will be a very long time before I have to buy a pet urn.

I searched for something like this for a very long time. I wanted just the right memorial. This chest is real wood. It's beautiful...and it has a place for a picture. That's where the lack of a star comes in, actually. It's kind of hard to get a picture to fit in there. I made my own, because I made this the final resting place for 3 wonderful purr friends...and I had the hardest time figuring out the measurements. Part of that problem I think, is that my printer won't do 3x5's. Other than that, it's beautiful. At the time I purchased this, it was about $30...far less than a lot of others that were of lower quality. It's pretty roomy inside, the wood is gorgeous, the there is a hinge on the back, the lid opens in the front and doesn't seal. If you want something to seal, I would just get some wood glue or something similar and apply to the top of the sides, then close the lid and set something on top to hold it for however long the glue says to do it. I am still pleased with it, and hope my purr friends are ok resting there too. If you're buying one of these, you have my condolences. This is definitely a very good memorial chest, and a great place for furr friends who are no longer with us to rest in a place where they are close to us.

I was somewhat hesitant to order this keepsake chest after reading all the mixed reviews. However, I wanted something that let me use a photo of my pet, and didn't want an urn, so this seemed to be everything I was looking for. I was very pleased when it arrived. It is very well finished with a beautiful, smooth mahogany color. The size was perfect; the chest holds my 45 lb. dog's ashes with some room to spare for cards, keepsakes, etc.. As another reviewer pointed out (complained), the piece that slides in and protects your photo is plastic, not glass, but it is very clear and you can't tell by just looking at the chest, so I have no problem with it. The top of the chest is hinged at the back, and my only "complaint" is that I would've liked it to have some way to secure the top closed. I'm thinking I might try a couple of small pieces of velcro or something, but as long as it's just sitting on a flat surface, it's not a problem anyway.All in all, I'm very pleased with this memorial chest, and it has made a very nice memorial for my much loved dog. There are many more expensive memorials on the market, but I love the look of this one and would absolutely buy it again.

the box is very nice, however the measurements are misleading. Yes the length of the OUTSIDE of the box is 7" however what truly matters is the INSIDE dimensions. The length of the interior of the box is just 5 1/2 inches. This made for a tight fit for our dogs ashes. She was a 65lbs Lab/Pit mix.Thank God they did fit and over all I'm happy with the product and it looks very nice. I just think it would be more helpful to either give the inside dimensions or over all dimensions so you have a better idea as to the actual size of the chest.On the plus side the wood is a nice rich color and its simple and not gaudy looking. I did order a brass plaque for the lid with her name and years of birth and death.

It's almost been a year since I lost my dog Fynn, so I can post about this product without bursting into tears. This is very well-made, looks great and was exactly what I was looking for at the right price too. The picture size is perfect and the top gives you a good size to add a plaque. Fynn was a chocolate Lab, Weimaraner mix and about 65 pounds and his ashes, tags, some fur and a few other mementos fit inside. The one thing I would like is a way to latch the top. I understand why they didn't, it wouldn't make for such a clean look but I do worry someday it'll get knocked over by accident. Sounds morbid, but I may buy another one of these now for my other dog so that when he goes, I'll have matching boxes. Disregard the grammar error in the plaque--not my fault!

I purchased this for my dog's ashes. They fit inside and I was also able to place his collar inside as well. I do wish there was a bit more depth inside, as I was not able to put the imprint of his paw we made inside, and have to keep it on top. It would also be nice is there was some kind of clasp or something so it would close tightly. I may order again, just get try to get a bigger size.(note, my dog was about 50 lbs, and his ashes in this plastic bag fit inside. a much larger dog, say 75 lbs or more may not fit.)
