Can you leave in when you wash your overalls?

Yes you can. If you are lucky to get the pad inside the pant. I had to take the pant to a seamstress. They opened the pocket and inserted the pad and resewed it back up.

Do they fit in carhart overalls?

I really don't know. If they are too big, you could always cut them down to a smaller size.
