I’m really happy with my purchase of the IMUSA Wood Mortar & Pestle. The X-Large size is just right for grinding larger quantities of herbs, spices, or making pastes. The wood is solid and durable, and the pestle fits comfortably in my hand, making it easy to crush ingredients. I use it almost daily for making salsas, spice blends, and even pesto. It’s sturdy enough to handle tough ingredients without any wobbling. It’s easy to clean, though I always ensure to rinse it immediately after use to preserve the wood. It broke after the first use.I’ve owed this before and know how to care for it yet it broke right down the middle.

PERFECT pilon and it's large enough the garlic doesn't fly out when you're smashing it! Only critique is that the wood is unfinished, you may need to sand it for comfort. But very functional as is, great product!

THE WOOD IS ROUGH. I KNEW THAT FROM OTHER REVIEWS.I SANDED WITH 80,100 AND 150 GRIT. THEN I FILLED IN A SMALL SPLIT ON THE OUTSIDE WITH GLUE AND SANDING RESIDUE. WHEN THAT DRIED I SANDED IT LIGHTLY.THEN I OILED IT 3X WITH FOOD GRADE MINERAL OIL.I NOW HAVE A MIGHTY NICE LOOKING AND STURDY MORTAR AND PESTLE FOR $20.!!I'm happy!
