Helps to improve sleep and to relax
Valerian Root can have a bit of an unpleasant smell but these liquid drops are actually easy to take and don't taste bad. They work great and help me to relax and to wind down at night.

Calms the nerves
I LOVE Mary Ruth products and the Valerian Drops are no different. I take a dropper of this and Kava drops at night and I sleep great! In 15 mins my eyes start getting heavy. Valerian drops are awesome when youre stressed and need something to calm you. I used to be prescribed Xanax years ago and stopped because I didnt want to take it the rest of my life. So, ive since found meditation and this

Works well to promote relaxation
It is soothing to nerves and relaxes my mind. I am not sure about night sleep. I have not noticed a significant difference. But it is supposed to help. Overall the drops are extremely functional, effective, great quality, taste is good. It has a bit too sweet taste for my palate.

Mild relaxing effect, but no sleep improvement, and awful smell
When I first opened this up I noticed just how stinky the smell was. I should have probably researched valerian root more because I had no idea it would smell that bad. It smelled like spoiled food, particularly spoiled cheese. I was just hoping it would not taste as bad as it smelled. I mixed it with juice so hopefully I would have less of a chance of tasting it. It did not have much of a taste at all, which I was glad for. A family member of mine also gave it a try by mixing it in with unsweetened tea and said he didn't taste it either. He also said he felt no effect at all after taking it. The effect I experienced taking this was mild relaxation and feeling like my mood improved a bit while also feeling a small energy boost - which is good, and an effect I haven't really experienced from taking anything so I decided to continue taking it for a few more days to give it a longer trial period. I was hoping for better quality sleep or longer sleep, but slept exactly the same amount I would without it, except the next day I would feel groggy, and I also had some leg cramps, which to me was an odd, unpleasant side effect. I decided to stop taking it, and I had some mild side effects for about a day after stopping. I felt a bad headache and fatigue for about a day after stopping it. Not the biggest deal, but still not fun. So while there are some short term mood boosting effects I experienced from this, it's not worth the smell, grogginess, leg cramps, and fatigue it caused me. It's also just not effective at helping me sleep better, which is what I originally bought it for. Edit: I did not ask for a refund but the company reached out to me to give me one, and were very apologetic and kind. One of the best customer experiences I have had! So while the product didn't work for me, I still have overall had a pleasant experience!

It helps with restless sleep
Great product! I've been struggling with sleep issues for YEARS and I'm so glad I tried this. I am so restless when I sleep that I toss and turn for hours on end, and this has definitely helped relieve it more than anything else Ive tried (and Ive tried just about everything). I do want to say the smell is off putting, but power through as the taste is tolerable. It's potent, I do feel groggy the next morning but it's worth getting sleep as i can go a week or more getting only 3 hours per night or less of sleep and it really affects my health. I'm hoping I will acclimate more over time and the groggy feeling may subside. Definitely worth trying if you have restless sleep, I am happy I did and will repurchase. Here's hoping it will continue to work.

Great for you if you mix it with something. My daughter didn’t enjoy taking it regularly
Got this for my daughter to take as alternative to melatonin or even magnesium. As you know, melatonin is a hormone and shouldn’t be taken daily so we switched to the magnesium, although I thought it was giving her diarrhea. We began using this as an alternative to both of those, but she hated the taste and wouldn’t take it. She’s four and autistic so sleep is an issue at times. When we did get her to take it, it did work, but we couldn’t get her to take it consistently because she hated how it taste tasted.

You Know It's Good When the Cats are Obsessed
So I didnt know that valerian root affects cats in a similar way to catnip until I opened this bottle and all 5 of my cats started going crazy. After I took my first dose, the kitties were all up in my face trying to smell my breath. Since then, I ordered some valerian root tea and they dont react to that nearly as much. So I already know this extract is strong. Im not taking this for sleep, but instead for nerve sensitivity and chronic pain from fibromyalgia. I was taking pregabalin but I had to stop because it was causing me severe migraines and visual distortions, so I've been looking for natural alternatives. I've been taking the max suggested dose on the bottle 3 times a day for about 2 weeks, and it is already doing better than my prescription meds were (Though I am also taking a skullcap extract). Keep in mind, it does take a little while to build up in your system. However, I felt some effects from the first dose. I haven't had any negative side effects. I dilute my doses in water and I havent noticed any taste and the extract is completely clear. There is a slight smell, which is expected because valerian root smells like stinky feet. But I am very sensitive to smells, and it isnt strong enough to cause me any problems with drinking it. There are enough doses in one bottle to last me a good while. I will be setting up a monthly amazon shipment for this, and I %100 recommend.

This smells like the socks a teenage boy has worn all summer long with a dash of borthole
It might help with sleep and nerves but Mylanta is smells like rotten cheese that was cultivated in someone's crack. I had the bottle in my bedroom on the desk and kept smelling something awful that was making me gag. The kids came in and said they smelled it too and my husband who can't smell much was sniffing around trying to find the offensive source. This plagued me for 3 days... I frantically looked behind furniture, in corners and kept asking my sons to smell their feet and go wash their backsides. I took the blankets out of my room because I couldn't get the stench out of my nose and everything seemed to smell of a rancid bowel juice aroma. Tonight I realized as I was sitting at my desk that the bottle of MR Valerian was an arm's length away from me and even though the lid has been *ON* tight, that the horrific stench was coming from this closed (new!) bottle. I really can't describe it.. if you cooked hotdogs and then let the hotdog water sit for a week or two, and then gave some old, backed up sot an enema with the "aged" hotdog water... whatever came out of that borthole next is how this bottle smells. You think I'm maybe exaggerating but I am not. It makes me gag sitting at the desk with the lid on! How is that possible? For my money, even though I love MR products, I'll find a pill and skip the liquid Valerian.

No me ayudó
Huele muy muy feo, hasta la sensación en la boca es extraña. No me ayudó en lo absoluto a dormir y ahí lo tengo casi nuevo.

Weak and diluted
This is so weak. I can tell because proper valerian extract isn't supposed to be so sweet and have little potency. I can not feel any effect from this product. Waste of money, do not buy if you want effective valerian root.

No me funcionó
No se si el producto es bueno o mala, obvio que no era para mi tipo de insomnio. No me sirvio. El insomio es algo complicado de tratar. Quiza funcione mejor un mix de diferentes hierbas del mercado, o algo de una buena tiendoa homeopatica.
