It's excellent for gluing the entire sole of the shoe back on if and when it delaminates. I get an extra 8 months out of running or athletic shoes using barge which is a contact cement. I like the applicator in the can. If the lid gets sticky clean it with actone. Apply to both surfaces and wait 20 mins. then stick it together. If I'm gluing soles back on, I use a clamp. It is great for regular leather as well. Be sparing on the patch with the amount you use. **Q: Is this suitable for leather saddle repair?** A: Yes, it’s primarily used to repair or resole shoes. Ensure both surfaces are clean or dirt and oil. Apply a thin coat of cement to both surfaces and allow to air dry for 5-10 minutes. Align the two surfaces and press lightly to ensure they are properly aligned then press harder once they correctly placed. Use clamps or suitable pressure for 4+ hours. You can use acetone for clean up. **Q: will this work on paper to silicone?** A: Over the years I have found nothing will bond to silicone. I have been using different contact cements over the years and Barge has proven to be something that I continually use over and over. This quart sized can of Barge is the best price per ounce that I can get on Amazon. If the soles of a pair of shoes begins to separate, this is the way to get it repaired properly. Be sure to follow the directions completely. Make sure each surface is perfectly clean before applying the glue. Sometimes I'll use acetone or lacquer thinner on the old glue surface, applying it with a 1-in chip brush to reactivate the old glue and get it soft enough to apply new glue to. This process will allow it to obtain a solid bond between the surfaces that you are regluing. You can bond the two surfaces together but only after it's completely dry. I would probably wait a half an hour to an hour before contacting the two surfaces together with high pressure. You can use a hammer to contact it down properly or you can use a clamp to clamp them together over the length of the repair.
