It's efficient, and the tower aspect is great
I like the concept of tower, in the way the air flows, it's different than typical fans with circular propeller...it seems to be better, cooler. The ice packs you can add is a great benefit, and works! It has a very large tank for water that you can add, and doesn't leak, etc. I started using it before adding the bottom support, which only complicated things...so, rest it on the box it came in and add that first, so you can avoid the ridiculous way I ended up installing...laying on the floor, with the cooler on top of the the box, with unit on, and balanced so the screw holes were hanging off the side of the box, just enough so it wouldn't tipped, which it started to at one point. This was dumb, and typical of how I do most things. So, don't do that. If my girlfriend had been there, I might have avoided this hassle. First, she would ask, "what are you doing?!"..."okay, but why aren't you installing the base first?" Cut to: 20mins later, unit is now on, resting on the couch so it didn't tip over...it's full of ice and cold water; however, it's not positioned the way we needed it, and needed to be moved. It's not the best to try and move it with all the water, as it's hard on the handle/lip at top....and you can't drag it, cause there is a drain plug that's somewhat delicate on the bottom. Now what?! And, "I told you to add base-support first"...etc. So, I had to carefully balance it on the box, with the bottom support hanging off ever so slightly so it didn't tip over, in the hot and humid apartment. I felt like I was working under a car or something. Should I give this 4 stars since it didn't do a good job of cooling me off during this whole fiasco? No, that wouldn't be fair. So I give it 5 stars, and am reviewing this a month later, having used it a number of times. The remote control is great, if and when I use it, which I don't. Why? The reason relates to why I did what I did in the above scenario. Is it fair to say that a remote seems more difficult to use than just going over and turning it on at the unit? No, because I don't leave the remote where it's easy to locate, and I don't want to muck up the buttons, cause they get gross. But then, that's why they provide a nifty little plastic sheath for psychos like me. But, I don't want to smudge that up either, and don't really like the way squareness of the sheath causes the corners to stick out, it's not streamlined enough. That could be a problem for some. In all seriousness though, I don't think you need to fill it all the way to the top, unless you have a whole lot of ice, perhaps in an additional cooler, because it doesn't stay cold 'that' long, and you will then have to try and cool much more water...that IS why the cooling packs are best, because you can just add them, and take them out, add them, and take them out. I told you to rotate the ice packs, you said you did! what's wrong with you?! first the stupid support thing, then too much water, now this...I think we need some distance hun. Distance? or rather, you want to say that, and have me comfort you, until you decide that "maybe we don't need distance after all...I guess I still want to be with you", but do as i ask from now on, okay?

A gigantic piece of cheap plastic garbage
I received my Breezewell Evaporative cooler yesterday. First and foremost the machine died within 4-5 hours of having it plugged in, but that is only one of the problems. The footer assembly, required to keep the machine from falling over came with no instructions for attaching it, but okay I figured that out. I turned it on - it is LOUD, really loud, a high pitched plastic whirring loud. So I wondered if putting the water in the tank would help quiet the machine. The fill portal is on the BACK of the machine and the gauge for how much water to put in the machine is on the FRONT. Hard to tell what you are doing when you can't see. The fill portal is just a flat opening in the body, I had to find a pitcher with a spout (I used a watering can) in order to fill it without spilling water everywhere. Oh, but to get to the fill portal (remember it's on the back) you have to move the whole machine - well the fancy footer (mentioned above) is concave with a hard lip that sinks into the carpet - you have to pick up the whole machine to turn it so that you can put in the water. Finally, I get the water in, pick up the the machine (now with a gallon of water in it) so that it faced into the room and turned it on. Yes, having water in the tank quieted the machine. However, it now spits water across anything in its path - not a mist - spitting droplets. But my room was cooler so I went to bed only to be woken because I was broiling hot - the machine had died. I unplugged it, re-plugged it, turned off, turned it on... the only thing it will do is oscillate. No fan, no evaporation. There are no trouble shooting instructions in the 5 page book of warnings. Final design flaw, I have to drain out the water so I can ship this POS back. The drain whole is on the bottom of the whole machine - I now have to pick up the machine which is cumbersome and heavy because it's full of water and haul it to my bathroom so I can set it in the tub to drain it. I am a petite 62 year old, hauling this piece of junk around is not so easy. So now I am the proud owner of a gigantic piece of plastic garbage which will go to a landfill after not even one use. BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE Breezewell is offering a $50 Amazon coupon if I write a review - gee do you think I will still get that?

A good cooler but a little expensive
The fan works well and does a decent job at the cooling aspect to cool the room by around 5 degrees. It is a little loud though if just running on the fan mode. If I use the night mode it intermittently shuts off. The exterior build is light but is a plasticy appearance. The water drainage hole is at the bottom and would require you to carry the fan to a place where you would like to drain the water. There was no documentation to assemble the fan base. While it was simple enough to figure it out, some people might find an instruction manual helpful.Overall for a price tag of $200+ I expected better.Edit: The customer service reached out to me to alleviate some of my concerns. They were top notch and I am bumping up the review to 4 stars because of the amazing customer service.
