Good heavy cutting board, top quality

Love this board
It definitely has some heft and it's more work to maintain (waxing) than the plastic maintenance-free boards. But the teak endgrain is absolutely gorgeous and you don't have to deal with plastics inevitably breaking down from use and making their way into your food.

Most Beautiful Board
I did so much research before buying this board, I was using bamboo boards before this, and I have gorgeous Japanese knives that I take very good care of, and then I discovered that had I not been honing my knives before and after using them, they would actually be dull by now because of the bamboo boards I was using with them!! I had no idea, so I researched for weeks and discovered that Teakwood was the best for my knives to protect them, and then I found out that Ziruma was actually the best manufacturer to buy my board from, and so I did, and once my board arrived I was so happy with it, but it doesn't end there, I was able to actually start a conversation with Ziruma via text message because being so new I had many question about what I could and could not do, they were so awesome, answering all of my questions, helping me step by step, even asking me to send them pictures of the board in my kitchen! They assisted me every single step of the way and they still do, I actually have them on speed dial, for text that is. You will not go wrong with this board, it is not only beautiful, but their customer service is outstanding.

Great Board
Beautifully made, solid construction. No feet on the non-grove side is nice to be able to use both sides of the board (vs. attached feet), preference thing but once I appreciate.

Not Good Quality
The first one of these I received had damage on the surface. It looked like it had been banged with something. There were little shallow divots in one spot, though there was no damage to the packaging or box. The manufacturer should have noticed it before they sent it out.The replacement one I got has black streaks through the grain, almost like black mold. Three of the corners are angled the same, one looks much sharper. And there is a crack between two end pieces on the edge where it obviously not glued.Quality control is obviously lacking. If you get one of these, be sure to look it over very carefully. At this point, I'll be returning the replacement for a refund, and I'll be looking elsewhere for an end-grain board.

Unfinished but at a really good price. Worth it.
I received this cutting board today. I was skeptical when I saw the price, but it is actually a nice yet unfinished board. There was no damage and it was nicely packaged. It comes with a small amount of wax to use on it, but I suggest either buying or having more wax on hand as you are going to need to finish the product. As it is end grain it isn’t going to be as smooth as a cross grain board. However, the one I received was rough and will require sanding, oiling, and waxing. There was also some of what is either the adhesive or markings from the lumber that should go away after I hit it with the sander. It could be used as is, but I want mine to not be that rough and trap bacteria. It has substantial heft and thickness to it. The ideas want me to address warping… these cutting boards will warp and crack if not properly taken care of just like any end grain board. It is fixable and the solution is addressed it the care manual supplied with the board. Before anyone questions me sanding the board it actually suggests sanding for knife indents and imperfections. So they are not hiding anything. Overall for the price, I would rather spend 10-20 minutes sanding the product to get the desired finish than spend another $100 on a cutting board that is fully finished. If you read this remember not to finish it with too fine of sand paper as the oil and wax won’t absorb properly just like any other piece of wood. I’ll probably go to 220 just to sand out the very rough spots before I clean it according to directions, oil and ultimately wax it. If you are looking to save $100+ for a little extra work put in I would highly recommend this product. If not, you are going to be spending $200 of more for something that is fully finished.

Good Quality
Has held up well for 18 months. Got wet on two occasions and warped, but was able to straighten it out by evenly wetting it and placing it flat on the countertop to dry. No splits or cracks. Keep it oiled and waxed.

Broken butcher block - Revised review of replacement block
New revised review of replacement butcher block -I was promptly issued a refund and I would have been okay with it to continue another search for my kitchen block, but within hours the sellers support team proactively shipped a replacement block, which arrived in one piece 👌We have a busy cooking household and I am always in search of most durable and sustainable products to keep our kitchen functional at most optimal. A good butcher block is quintessential in the kitchen.I have been using it for a few days and I am very pleased that meets all expectations of a heavy duty butcher block for a heavy duty kitchen. The block is heavy and take well to all types of knife cuttings. Because it is hard woods knifes will need sharpening often, so be prepared for that. There are no chips, dings and dents or wraps on arrival and a few days use is proving well for the boards assembly. So far all is going pretty well with the block and with proper care I am sure we will have this in our home for a long while.Only request to seller - please consider a better packaging system for your beautiful products. The new boards arrived in two cardboard boxes but again there was no shock absorbing reinforcement with bubble wraps or anything.Old review of the broken block - I was very disappointed the board out of the box arrived broken in multiple place.Returned immediately and was issued refund.
