Ideal for city water systems, it restores softener efficiency and extends unit lifespan through easy application—dissolve in warm water and pour into the brine well or layer between salt bags for continuous maintenance. ## Description Softener Mate softener cleaner is a unique blend of chemicals formulated to remove limited iron, manganese, silt, metal particles and organic compounds that cause softener inefficiencies. Regular use of Softener Mate softener cleaner as a maintenance program will restore the softener back to peak efficiency and maintain the life of the unit. For best results, layer softener mate between each bag of salt or manually add a solution of one dissolved cup of Softener Mate with 1 quart of warm water. Pour this solution down the brine well, and regenerate the softener. As easy as that, you have cleaned your softener. Softener Mate is the perfect softener cleaner for municipal/city water homes. Pro Products LLC, was established in 1995 and provides reliable, high quality, cost effective solutions for both in-home water systems and outside irrigation needs. The water treatment specialists at Pro Products offer a wide range of solutions that focus on rectifying problems, testing, cleaning stains, and maintaining the performance of water quality equipment. Review: Effective product to further clean water softener resin - Our water has a high mineral content which requires a water softener to minimize mineral deposits, and enhance cleaning. Our 15+ year old softener had been losing its ability to provide soft water, and had reached a point where a brine regeneration did not provide any soft water. We decided to explore the option of cleaning the resin prior to looking at replacement options. Following the product's instructions, two treatments were used for a deep clean. The softener is back to providing soft water. We will now use the product on a regular basis, following the instructions on the bottle. Review: Great Value High Quality - Definitely did the job on a 19 year old Kinetico softener. Back to 0 hardness. This was accomplished with their standard up directions. ## Features - Dissolve 1 cup of Softener Mate softener cleaner in 1 quart of warm water; Pour directly into brine - Manually regenerate softener - Add 1/4 cup (4 ounces) for every 40 Pounds - Layer to ensure a continuous dose of Softener Mate softener cleaner with each regeneration ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B00608F6WI | | Brand | Pro Products | | Brand Name | Pro Products | | Contains Liquid Contents? | Yes | | Customer Reviews | 4.5 out of 5 stars 507 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00818125000405 | | Item Volume | 1 Quarts | | Item Weight | 4.76 Pounds | | Item volume | 1 Quarts | | Item weight | 4.76 Pounds | | Manufacturer | Pro Products, LLC | | Material Features | Organic | | Material features | Organic | | Model Number | SM65N | | Number of Items | 1 | | Part Number | SM65N | | Size | 4 lbs. | | UPC | 818125000405 | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Unit count | 1 Count | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Pro Products - **Item volume:** 1 Quarts - **Material features:** Organic - **Number of Items:** 1 - **Unit count:** 1 Count ## Images ![Pro Products Softener Mate SM65N City Water Softener Cleaner, 4 Pounds - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71aWlKJAe5L.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: what are the chemicals that this softener is made from?** A: Material Data Safety Sheet says Citric Acid and Sodium Chloride, both listed as 30-60%, since the formula is proprietary **Q: Why is this listed as a "City Water" softener cleaner when the Pro Products website describes it as an all-purpose softener cleaner?** A: Possibly because most City Water sources are not high in iron. There are separate products which are better for cleaning your softener when your water source is high in iron. **Q: Is this a 4 or 5 pound container? Description says 4 pounds but pic shows 5 pounds. Thanks** A: i am not home to look at it, but i believe it's 4 # **Q: If anyone has an empty 4lb or 1.5lb bottle of this, can you fill it up with water and tell me how many gallons of liquid it holds?** A: The 1.5 lb bottle is the same size and shape as a quart of motor oil, but a bit thinner. So guessing it would hold about 28-30 oz of water. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Effective product to further clean water softener resin *by J***T on 15 September 2025* Our water has a high mineral content which requires a water softener to minimize mineral deposits, and enhance cleaning.
