I bought these to haul my 2 sun dolphin kayaks a top my chevy tracker and they work great. They are fast and easy to assemble and quickly and easily mount to any rooftop luggage racks with the cross bars. They won't work on side rails. My only complaint would be that after just a few uses the foam rubber is tearing off already, but I really don't think it is needed as the kayaks won't move once strapped down so the foam rubber isn't really necessary. I would recommend these.

Cheap tubular steel. A little difficult to get together without a mallet or wooden block to pound screws and parts together. Instructions are just photos, adequate for those with mechanical and intuitive mind, but not for the less than handy. The included “wrench” is so whimpy, I would not trust the torque it will provide- which means it will fall apart with time. Use a REAL wrench. Mount is made for a variety of crossbars, from narrow to wide to flat and round. I don’t trust the security of the quick mount large knob nuts. I would definitely strap the kayak to my car’s cross bars and NOT to this wing rack, unless you want your kayak to fall on a trip. I heard that the provided straps are worthless, so you also better throw a few square knots at the end! But it is well worth the money!

This product is well made for light kayaks, ours are about 54pds each. Since the system attaches to the crossbar itself, it depends on the strength of the crossbar as it was attached to the bars of your vehicle. So, heavier yaks should be carry over your roof by themselves and not in pairs, but that is my opinion. Some have complained that the instructions are difficult but I found them very easy to understand and was able to have all four parts done in a few minutes. The bolts have square bases under the head of the bolt, so to be correctly installed you need to press the head from the other side until the square goes all in through the square hole... Failure to do this will not secure that bolt. Then you can tight the nut. My crossbars are oval so there was a little play on the metal bracket that secures the base to it, so I have the plastic knobs quite tight and it felt secure enough. Although each part holds half of the weight of the yak and should be able to carry it safely, I installed 'lock nuts' (nylon nuts) under each knob to make sure the knob will not come lose. The straps are 8 feet long, only good for one lap over each side of the yak, probably not enough to make you feel safe. Still, I felt it is safe enough for short distances. You can upgrade with ratchet, longer straps as I did. The plastic base and the foam on the tubes protect your yak from scratches and seems long lasting. I strongly recommend not to pass 55mph with this system or any other regardless of your straps, unless you secure the front and back of your yak.

They worked well the first trip, second time went to put them on noticed the mounting plate was a little more flat than concaved, no matter how much you tighten the nuts, you could easily move the j hooks around. I just wrap my ratchet strap through and to the roof bars, safer/proper way to mount anyways. These where used on a 2021 Ascent with a pelican 136x, pelican argo100, so 2 light kayaks. Don't see any need to purchase new ones, just some light modification to make them work properly again. Update: After a 3rd trip out its like trying to secure spaghetti to an upside down plate using more spaghetti. Dropped one the nuts from about 4 feet and the plastic cover enabling the mount to be tightened by hand shattered. 2 of the 4 tighten down, then within a minute they flop over and scoot around when putting a kayak on them, which makes securing everything a pain. The foam rubber protectors are disintegrating and these hooks are only on the vehicle when needed, stored in a garage when not in use. (kayaks are lifted up and on, not slid on or off) Haven't modified these yet, at this point they're garbage bound. These were purchased as a temp solution until I got a trailer, maybe I got a bad set, maybe I didn't. 4/12/25 I don't know why I haven't thrown these things in the garbage yet. It somehow got even worse.

Racks are nice. I had to bend the brackets to fit my roof rack- the brackets did not clamp tightly untill i did a bit of modification. The straps they send wit it are junk and do not tighten enough for me to feel secure driving on the highway. I would suggest buying a different strap if you buy these. The racks them selves are great and putting them together was cake. I would but again for the price but I wish they were just a little better- or if they sold them for a little less and left the junky straps out of the whole thing. Buy them is you need them- cant go to wrong but be ready to buy some better straps and bend the brackets to fit your set up.

Had them on my van a while now, they work great and they are sturdy, they also are very easy to install and take off.

Easy to assemble. Sturdy and secure. Have been using mine for two years now and hold my Kayaks tight and secure.
