Akai CE1008 AM/FM Clock Radio

It is difficult to learn how to program the device. Keep the instructions handy. Make several copies. But once you do learn, the the radio is excellent. Large numerals. Good sound.

This clock radio is exceptionally difficult to operate. Simple steps such as setting the time, or setting the radio pre-set buttons are difficult. The only reason I haven't returned it is that the shipping cost would approach the price of the item.

My dad wanted a new alarm clock with a large, easy to read display with the radio feature. This machine is somewhat clunky, but still fairly easy to set up. The sound quality for the radio isn't the best, but it suits his needs for occasional music/news/weather on the FM band. The display is amber - far more orange than red (it appeared more red in the listing, which isn't a big deal to him) - and it's large, so nice and easy for him to see without being so bright it lights up the whole bedroom at night. Shipping was fast, packaging was adequate, and so far the thing works well enough. We're basically pleased with the purchase.

This was a gift, and in the words of the recipient, "It's too bright, it's too big, it has too many buttons". I'll also throw in that the radio does not work well in our bedroom, whereas our other clock radio works great and gets good reception. So if you are looking for a clock that has large numbers, this might work for you. But if you just want a utilitarian clock radio that doesn't use too much space, keep looking.

like the large amber numbers for the time. bought it mostly for a clock. rarely use the radio or alarm feature. I use it underneath our flat panel TV.

The alarm, which is what I purchased this clock for, does not have the capability of adjusting the volume. You can adjust the radio's volume when you're listening to it, but not for the alarm which is factory set at 12. Every morning, after thinking I had lowered the volume to 9, I'd be jolted outta bed by a radio set by the hard of hearing!!! Not pleasant at all.

I wanted a cheap clock radio and I got one. The clock is bright and easy to set. The radio however is not so good. The controls to set the presets is difficult and not intuitive. The buttons are hard to read. The audio is tinny.
