Great edition to the series
My teen and I have been collecting these since she was an early reader. Some editions do vary in quality, but this one is great. You learn a little about her childhood and rise to VP, and her story is definitely inspiring. These aren’t repeat reads necessarily, but they are great introductions with consistent themes of helping others, making the world better, and overcoming adversity. The message bears repeating and is threaded throughout the series in a very positive tone that is inspiring without being preachy. I think this is why my teen has always enjoyed collecting them. Even though she knew who Kamala Harris is, she remarked as she has with others that she didn’t know her story.

Relatable, especially since Kamala is currently a presence in our lives.
This is a nice, short synopsis of the background and achievements of Kamala Harris. It treats her as a person whom you would want your child to model after, regardless your political beliefs. She worked hard to achieve her goals and succeeded. I have no idea where the reviewer who said "Odd to hear about sleeping with your boss as a career advancement strategy in a kids book" possibly read that, it says nothing of the kind in this book. The only thing that is mentioned is in the timeline at the end of the book, which is meant for the reader's (adult) background info, was not intended to be read to children. That timeline includes the sentence "in 2014, she married her partner Doug." Doug was her partner, not her boss; if anything (and I don't believe this for a second), he slept with her to advance his career. It's sad when reviewers create their own facts and destroy the integrity of their review. No matter what your political beliefs, teaching children about working hard, enjoying family, and being kind to others is a gift for the child. This book accomplishes that very nicely.Review of: Kamala Harris (Volume 68) (Little People, BIG DREAMS)

Read to your kid about someone who broke the norm for GOOD
Great book to start conversations with boys and girls about hard work, perseverance, about how women are now finally starting to occupy powerful positions. About how women from -minorities- are climbing up and being successful. I love that the book is about someone that is currently alive, and kids have a more tangible idea of how everything is currently changing, as they see the character of this book in the TV, news, and much more places. It doesn't matter your political view, this book talk about family, advocacy, people's rights, is not political propaganda, is the biography of someone who broke the norm, and for good!

Encouraging Read for Children
This has been an enjoyable book to read to my child that details Kamala’s life and career. It follows the typical Little People Big World theme of discussing her childhood, her early career, her peak career, and then follows up with a timeline of her life and real photos at the end.The illustrations are colorful, fill the full pages, and are fun to look at while reading. I enjoyed teaching my child about how her family were activists while Kamala was young, and that helped her feel empowered enough to continue to advocate for herself and others through her young adult years to eventually become Vice President. This makes an excellent book for encouragine young girls, researching for a book report, & general reading enjoyment.
