I've been struggling to find marrowfat peas for some time as I make my own mushy peas, chip-shop style, and so tried these green peas.At first, I was quite disappointed as they look just like ordinary frozen peas, but dried, and I didn't think they'd make good mushy peas. They are quite a bit smaller than marrowfat peas.An overnight soak, addition of the "secret ingredients", and slow cooking produced very acceptable mushy peas. Darker than the traditional marrowfat version, and with a stronger flavour, but they're certainly OK for this.I have to say that I prefer the traditional marrowfat peas, but if they aren't available these are a very acceptable alternative. I also wouldn't hesitate to use them in dishes such as stews, where they would be better than the marrowfat version.

I like these but they need a good long soak and then 30 mins simmer at least.

The flavour of mushy peas are very delicious if cooked correctly, the quality of the peas was what I expected so the finished product was absolutely perfect. I cannot believe they were less than half price compared to the supermarket. An excellent find

Just good quality dried peas. It’s getting harder to find dried peas in supermarkets, found these and though we’d give them a go. Good quality.
