Ironically as I was reading the other comments about the chopper my wife cut her finger just as some of the other people in the comments did. The blades are extremely sharp so be careful.It took us a little while to get used to using it and the different blades and whatnot we still haven't used them all. It is a very good device and it definitely saves a lot of time my wife is very appreciative of it and we are good even going to try to make potato chips with it over the next day or two.

I bought this in 2021 to process garden veggies for canning. I was so impressed by how sharp the blades were! I had a problem with the top not fitting securely onto the bottom so that it kept slipping off when chopping. I overlooked that problem, but when I discovered one of the blade pieces had broken off I was not happy. I had been chopping carrots. Luckily I saw the piece in the catch tray before dumping the whole thing into my soup. I continued to use the device for the rest of the season since I still had a lot of processing to do. Later, when chopping celery, another piece of the blade broke off. So the 1/4" square chopping blade is not very useful now. Because of the fit of the top to the bottom (or lack of) it is difficult to use the mandolin-type slicer. I tried to shred carrots, but it just didn't work. I'll probably still use this with the small chopping blade (1/8") but I'll purchase a different brand for my heavy duty use. I think this device would be sufficient for every day cooking prep.

I've been seeing this type of machine on the television shopping channels, but I thought I would give my good old AMAZON buddies a go. The whole thing fits into the compartment, and there is a basket that lines the clear container...neat. Used the smallest of chopper blades and it did peppers and onions really quickly. I put the veggies on the blades and went to work. Best to slice first and then it's bam bam bam. I was making a big pot of chili, huge actually, and the dicing took 5 or 6 minutes...longer to peel the onions then to dice them. You DO have to whack them good to get the best/quickest results. Have not tried the larger grid, or any of the mandolin slicer attachments yet, so I may be back for a follow up...and we did wash in the dishwasher!

This thing is incredible! Super easy to use, clean and store. I have a very picky rabbit who likes her veggies shredded and I was using a regular grater but it was taking too much time and effort so I bought this and it has literally blown me away. The only thing is the white stains so if that would be an issue for you get a darker color!
