Q: Why does shipping cost so much?

Good question. Most suppliers will charge more for their products and offer "a savings" or even "free" shipping. All that that tells you is that the shipping costs are built into the price that you are paying for the product. What you don't see is that the shipping cost stays about the same for your supplier whether you buy one bag, two bags, or three bags. If the shipping charges are built in, then you pay for the shipping charges again and again on each bag of screws, but it doesn't increase for the supplier. I'm not completely sure about how the charges are calculated on this product through Amazon, but carriers such as UPS & FedEx calculate charges based on a variety of factors. Things that will make shipping charges higher include: package size, zip code, rural delivery areas, residential delivery address, and package weight. To get the best shipping rate, the package needs to be the right size to contain the product without shipping a lot of air (empty space), and it is best to ship to a commercial address in a decent sized town/city. That being said, if we are able to ship an order out and save the customer some money without delaying delivery, then we do often choose the cheaper option and issue a refund to our customers after the package has been shipped.
