Blown away by this. Here’s why…..
We already have two Triton Thermostatic Power Showers one of which I replaced about 4 years ago. Due to the routing of the plumbing you have little choice but replace like for like unless you want to turn the replacement into a dockyard job and start messing with your plumbing. At some point soon we will replace our boiler and due to the noise of these power showers I’ve been weighing up the option of an unvented system so we can rip out these Tritons and use normal mixer valves with mains pressure water. But this is an expensive option and would again require a plumber in addition to a central heating engineer.Last week our eldest of the two showers which was installed prior to us purchasing the house turned itself on and wouldn’t turn off. The smell was horrendous and luckily we isolated the power before it burned itself out. So this meant we needed to make a decision quick. I opted to just replace the shower in the short term if I could get on cheap enough, but after checking Amazon I found out they had been discontinued. Amazon recommended this newer model so I started reading up on whether they were a straight forward replacement or not. It turns out they are except for having to relocate the mounting holes which is a simple enough task. It also turns out that Triton claim these showers are much quieter than the previous models we already have and reviews on Amazon appeared to confirm this was the case.I took a punt and I have to say these are also easier to install especially if using rear entry pipes as rather than a cut out the profile of the new back plate now allows you to slide the shower up to insert the pipe elbows. It’s also not a requirement to use plastic elbows anymore so no issues with voiding your warranty if you already have copper elbows installed. This was a sly change to the previous models instructions so it’s good that Triton no longer take this approach. There are a few comments from people claiming these to be extremely quiet but with poor flow. This sounds like the commissioning process has not been followed. These are supplied with a dip switch in the ‘on’ position which effectively inhibits the pump so you can purge the water inlets of any trapped air by flushing through hot and cold water under gravity fed pressure only. Once this is complete the dip switch must be set to ‘off’ which then initialises the pump. The end result has caused me to totally rethink our boiler plans. Instead we will now just replace the boiler itself and leave the gravity fed tank in the loft. In fact I’ve just ordered another of these units to replace our other Triton power shower which works perfectly except for the noise. It’s only 4 years old but these new showers are so quiet in comparison I can’t now bare to use are old one now. The flow rate is as good but with the flow dial in the mid position the pump cannot be heard from outside our bathroom above our extractor fan which is also very quiet. You can of course increase the flow by turning the dial and the pressure is impressive but the noise does increase and the mid position is a good balance of sufficient flow with hardly any noise. From outside the bathroom you are more likely to hear the water flow and extractor fan than the shower pump itself. With our old showers you would always know if someone was in the shower from wherever you were in the house and our house isn’t small by any means. Our whole family is impressed and I highly recommend these to anyone with an existing Triton Power Shower.Update:Just installed the second one. It’s just as quiet and just as powerful. Remember to seal the hole in the wall around the pipes and do not seal around the unit itself!

A little wider than older units
A triton shower unit, complete with riser rail and fixtures, a shower head and hose. After 22 years of getting our old one repaired, I finally decided to splash out on a new shiny silent running one, after my old one started playing up again. The unit came boxed, but the box seal looked like it had been tampered with, and the riser rail was out of its foam protective covering. Now these may all be coincidences, but has to be noted. Everything was enclosed though and nothing looked damaged.I decided to get a plumber to fit it, as some of the pipe work needed adjusting for it to fit easier, as it was a little snug, even though it’s a like for like fitting with my old AS2000XT model, the box was 14mm wider, from edge to pipe work, so the pipe work needed moving to allow the cover to fit snug against the wall. So take this into account if replacing an old triton unit.Everything was very easy to connect up, pipe work, electrics and my original rainforest shower unit, connected up perfectly.Make sure if you fit it, and not a plumber, that you commission it properly, otherwise you may have water flow problems. There is a commission switch inside the unit, and its on by default, this stops the motor running, while you flush water through the pipe work, dispelling any air. Once you have done this, switch the switch off, this will allow the motor to run, probably why so many people complain about lack of water power, or so my plumber said. So the lesson is, always read the instructions, as even my plumber hadn’t heard of this switch. The motor is very quiet, being a brushless type, you’d hardly know that it was running, unless you have it on full. If this unit lasts as long as my old one, I’ll be very happy.

The good ,the bad and pretty
Three years back the plumber installed a Triton model as2000xt thermostat shower to increase water for a better shower it is everyones wish but is not what I expected how it should be. Few months later it becames so noisese water pressure is better than none. Decided to pay a Triton plumber to look in to it only improve a very bit!!!. I have to live with for some years until recent it stopped working. Than shall I buy another Triton? or other brands. Checking some products it would be easy to replace newest model. than I choose the As2000sr model. I shop around found the Amazon is most competitive it arrives on Thursday. I install it on Sunday it is quite straight forward turn off water and power supply. It did not take me long to replace as the water input is the same only thing is drill other holes to fix it to the wall. The good thing about the unit is looks 100 per cent better the predecessor. The bad thing is the package missing a piece of puzzle - a tempeture plate.Phoning customer services waiting for 27 minutes long to answer worst thing is because their phone have a delay systems it end up no joy and upset.Well known Brand but the services is zero. I sent off an email to see my luck. The pretty thing about the shower unit works great, pretty and very quiet. In the end I've received the last puzzle as they missed including the plastic cover. Hate to deal with big company most of them their customers service is bad. Except the Amazon.
