Outstanding helmet, good value
The Synthe is not a new design for Giro but was updated 3 years ago (it was considered their best road helmet at that point). You will be hard pressed to match it quality and looks in ‘current’ models that cost $100-150 more such as the Aegis and Aries. The fits are a little different though; I found the Synthe to be a slightly slimmer look.

Right fit and light
This giro model is quite old already but it’s still one of the best helmets I’ve used. Not anymore the top of the line in terms of its features compare to some of the latest models but this one is still very good and you can get it now for a much cheaper price. Great fit and very light. It’s not that big like other helmets that will make you look like a mushroom.

Long time Giro wearer. As good as they've always been.
I've been wearing Giro helmets since the late 1990's. I had the original Helios and the Boreas that the Postal Service team wore. This Synthe is like a high-end race helmet for half the price. Then Amazon discounts it further. Basically, you get a well-ventilated, light, race quality lid for less than a hundred. Some say it is a little shroomy. I wear a small, which just fits, and I think it looks great. Maybe the larger sizes use a larger shell resulting in a wider look, but I am only guessing.

Matte finish not durable
The fit, comfort, and safety features of this helmet are great, and I will keep it. However the blue matte finish is made using a type of shrink wrap that is not durable. Immediately upon regular everyday use, it starts to flake and peel off, becoming really unsightly. We have other helmets in the house from other brands with a similar matte finish, but those have not had this problem at all.

Material and built quality is top notch. Fits my 68cm head. As it is always difficult for me since my size is inbetween M and L. Strap is also good and easy to adjust.
