Don't be fooled by the sound of some competitors' "thin sounding" passive systems. The Pure Systems are definitely different. They sound full and rich and have sufficient output to drive most amps and PA systems directly, without a preamp! Advantages of the Pure Guitar System The special Pure surface transducers transmit a significant portion of the soundboard because they are not as close to the strings as an under-saddle pickup. Each of the 3 transducers is designed to pick up a specific string pair, but also "listens" to the adjacent area around the bridge. The Pure pickups are not under pressure and therefore do NOT sound percussive or harsh. The Pure System reproduces all strings nicely balanced, a known problem with under-saddle pickups. The Pure System sounds great just in passive mode! Unlike under-saddle pickups which passively can sound thin and trebley, the passive PURE system puts out a nicely balanced, warm, full range signal. Feedback Resistance How safe is the Pure System with feedback Due to the Pure System's location on the bridge plate under the bridge, feedback resistance is comparable to under-saddle transducers. Technically, a pickup installed in or on the bridge is a lot less likely to feedback than one which is attached to the open sound board. The 1/8" thin sound board can act like a diaphragm and vibrate along with loud sound-signals from speaker cabinets. This is the kind of feedback you experience on an acoustic guitar. The thicker bridge area is a lot harder to be set into vibration from an outside source simply because of its mass. In our tests with both, steel string and classic guitars equipped with an under-saddle pickup plus the Pure System, we were able to achieve about the same gain-before-feedback with both systems. I am under the impression that this is for smaller guitars.** A: Probably a dated question but here’s another $.02. I have a Pure Mini in a Martin HD-35 and it sounds great. For those worried about bass dropout, it’s great in the 35 which is bass heavier (when desired) due to the lighter, forward-shifted bracing. The transducers pick up the additional bass well. **Q: How do you install this?** A: It is installed by applying superglue to the pick ups and gluein them to the bridge plate inside the guitar. It comes with a set up jig and some putty to make sure everything is aligned properly. An average do it yourselfer should be able to accomplish this project, but a luthier would probably do it for around $50. Highly recommend. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ いい音です *by バ***う on 20 November 2025* 取り付けも簡単です。 ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A great addition to my Martin CEO-7 *by C***S on 28 May 2022* Very nice natural sound! I installed this in my CEO-7 and followed the directions precisely and took about an hour and half from drilling out the endpin hole to plugging in. The instruction booklet is very good. For drilling out the endpin hole, I used a 1/2 in unibit that is supposed to be used on metal or PVC and it worked perfectly and gave a nice smooth finished hole. I bought one specifically for this project and I recommend that. Make sure you use a piece of blue painters tape to keep things neat and protect guitar from scratches during drilling. Installing the transducers was the easier part but also takes the most time. I placed a small flashlight in the guitar which makes it easier down into the pin holes when positioning the jig. The endpin install was the patience step as it required working on both sides of the guitar and getting the right fit with the washer/nut. I used a straw to help guide the jack through the hole. It took me 3 tries to get the washer fit perfect but when it was done, it was nice and tight, which is maybe one of the most important steps for getting a nice sound with no stray vibrations. Sonically, the K&K Pure captures my CEO-7 tone very accurately from bass to trebles. A few reviewers have mentioned bass bias but I didnt notice any uneveness in tone and did not even need to EQ to get a nice warm tone. In my other guitars I have used LR Baggs Lyric, LR Baggs Anthem, and ES2 and truly think K&K is best at achieving a natural acoustic tone. Add in the fact that there is no battery needed and price point with easy install and only conclusion is, get one. I have since installed a K&K in all my guitars. I recently purchased an external K&K preamp for additional tone shaping when playing in a band setting or plugging in at larger venues where I like additional tone control. For solo gigs and small venues, it is not even needed.
