I do seem to recall when there was limited testing directly on animals, the animals were agitated but nothing more. **Q: why does it say that the packaging may vary? this makes me suspicious of what is actually in the pods.** A: The packing has is a little lose enough so the packing doesn’t get popped. **Q: How long can the product be used?** A: For as long as you have the product it doesn't go bad as long as you keep the tide pods in the container. I use them all the time in my wash as well as the liquid detergent. The tide pods i like better is because one pod is equivalent to one small or regular load if your putting a bigger load in the wash i suggest using 2 tide pods at the same time for a better wash and cleanliness for your clothes. **Q: Is this product really as good as advertised?** A: This is all I use. This included a /real mulberry silk/ blouse and a pillowcase. My mother moved everything into the drying machine after and I didn't realize my mistake until I took my clothes out to fold them, but guess what? Tide Free & Gentle did not damage my silk blouse or pillowcase in the slightest.
