It is well built. slides well, the slide is beefy. This slide lock seems strong enough to prevent the door being opened without significant damage to the door. It has 10 mounting holes to make installation easy. I am pleased with the product, and price.

As advertised! It's even taken the continual abuse of attempting to open while in the locked position. (Oops! Thought I unlocked it. *sheepish grin*) Totally not the product's fault, but after about a year, I got really tired of having to get out of my car and go around through the house to manually unlock the deadbolt before being able to pull my car inside. It's super inconvenient. (First world problems, I know.) That led to me not utilizing it as frequently. Theft is nuts in my neighborhood, though, so I knew I was just tempting fate, by leaving my garage unlocked when not home. Eventually after searching online I was able to find an electronic deadbolt that was easy to install and paired seamlessly with my LiftMaster garage opener/remote. For anyone wondering it is called SureLock Garage Door DeadBolt. It's available on Amazon and it's wonderful. I forget how to link in a review, but a quick search should pull it up. Also, the owner is super nice and helpful. I bought the deadbolt directly from his website because it was out of stock on Amazon at the time, but I was impressed by what a standup guy the proprietor Peter is. He even offered his cell in case I ran into any probs installing. (I didn't. It was easy.) So now this manual deadbolt is just a secondary backup for when the power goes out or the apocalypse happens. I give it five stars for what it is. It definitely did its job and made me feel more secure.

The one that came with my garage door was strangely getting caught and could not be adjusted to not do this due to bring too close to the rail. This one fixed the problem and has a much longer reach but also length of travel so it's actually better able to lock the door closed but also get out of the way when I want to open it. The supplied bolts were way too long and honestly a joke but I was able to use the screws from my old one just fine.

The slide lock itself is great, the bolts are not. They’re carriage bolts and not the first thing you’d use to mount to the metal track of a garage door. I’ll need to go get a handful of hex bolts and nuts to finish this which is no big deal. Happy enough with the actual lock though. If you need help attaching this you’re much better served on YouTube than with the instructions provided.

Got these this afternoon and installed them this evening. I had to reverse the latches, but that was no issue, just pull the screw on the throw and swap it around. I just had my hangar doors (two 20' industrial garage doors with a swinging mullion) refurbished and the tech told me I should replace the sloppy locks (20 years old) with new. These worked just perfectly, heavy duty, easy install and I REALLY love the red vinyl covers on the throws. See photo. The included bolts (going on other reviews) are only for new installations where YOU DO NOT CARE if the bolts penetrate the door. My doors do not open from the outside at all and have nothing marring the look of the panels. The old latches were installed with self-tapping screws and I just put the new ones where the old ones came out. Just a great value with a good-looking, heavy duty unit. The fresh springs give a satisfying SNAP in both directions. I love it when a plan comes together.

This is my second purchase of this lock. The first secured the door on my shop. It was easy and quick to install while providing a deadbolt for the door. It worked so well I decided to buy one to secure my “car garage door” when we are on vacation. It’s a simple solution to my concerns about someone forcing the garage door. Great value. Easy installation. Will buy again and recommend to friends.

Well made. Easy to flip the handle so I could put one on each side of my garage door. The multiple mounting holes make it very easy to install. I had them mounted with self tapping screws in just a matter of minutes. Very solid built. Great peace of mind to know that my garage is tons more secure now. Be careful not to mount them too close to the railing. Contact is possible with the railing as the door opens and goes through the curve at the top.

This product exceeded my expectations. It’s extremely sturdy and very easy to install. Just punch out one of the many plates along your garage doors rail system & line it up for installation. I never knew how easy it was to break into a garage door until I saw a YT video. I feel much safer at night with this on our garage door. We have two - one on each side of our door for double security - **but one will certainly do the job**. I highly recommend this product.

I purchased two of these mechanical locks after an attempted break-in into my garage where someone forced one side of the garage door open. These locks will definitely improve security - especially while you're away. Realizing I have two garage doors, and these locks only lock one side of the door, I decided to purchase two more (total of 4, installing a lock on each side of both doors). If you only use a single lock on a door, the other side of the door can still be forced upwards - something I wanted to completely prevent. The bolts included won't suffice for most doors. I purchased a bunch of metal screws, also from Amazon. However, you can buy these at your local hardware store as well for less. Having the garage door opener ripped out of the ceiling, while unfortunate, isn't the lock's fault - it did it's job. I would be more concerned if the lock broke in this scenario. Properly installed garage door openers won't rip themselves from the ceiling if they encounter resistance.

Bought 2 and then 2 more great to fit to our panel lift door, for manual bolting from inside and can fit a padlock if desired. Only fixing required and aligning with the slots on the vertical guide frame and voila!! Simple and very effective.
