Why did the price go up from $53?

greed! Products with same ingredients normally don't go up in price within a short time of a previous purchase, other then just plain 'Greed'....loyalty for one product can only last as long as the company producting it stays 'honest'. Time to shop for other similar good product and toss 'loyalty' out! Takes two to tango!

You already have all the ingredients listed by Susan. I would suggest that you call Enzymedica at 888-918-1118. They are very knowledgeable and friendly. What my friends mix up is the difference between Probiotics and Enzymes. Probiotics introduce live bacteria into your gut. When all of the bacteria , yeast, fungi, etc. are in balance, all is well. This is similar to the live cultures in some yogurts. Enzymes are secreted in your gut in reaction to the food you eat. These enzymes breakdown the fats, proteins and carbs and allow to you absorb the nutrients, in the digestive process. As you get older, the enzymes your body secretes can become weaker. And you stop digesting all the food you eat. And you become bloated, gaseous, etc.. That is what the Digest Gold fixes. This is similar to taking a Lactose pill to help digest dairy products. I do not take Digest Gold before every meal. I do take one before a big meal. Thanksgiving thru Xmas I will use a lot of them ! They work wonderfully for me. I also use "Natures Bounty Advanced Probiotic 10" . This product has 10 probiotic strains, while most have only 3 or 4. It does not have to be refrigerated. I found the best price on Amazon. I take one every day to keep my gut in balance. I also eat a little yogurt every day with a Lactose pill. My gut and digestion have not been this good in 10 years. Hope this helps.

If the capsule is opened and taken directly does it taste bitter ?

I wouldn’t suggest doing that. The point of the capsule is to keep it intact to get to your stomach then dissolve there. That way the enzymes get to your small intestine. If you take it directly, the enzymes could break down in your esophagus from the acids and you won’t see the benefits. I have not tried diluting it in directly in water though

Where is the product manfactured? Are ingredients imported and if so from where?

If you enlarge bottle, it states, "No Fillers Added" and "Made in the USA with Global Ingredients". I like this product and it helped me with my digestive issues along with a probiotic.
