## Description

The Parker 51 is as groundbreaking today as it was when first launched in 1941. This unique writing instrument is inspired by the pen once hailed as the 'world's most wanted' – retaining its distinctive streamlined silhouette and iconic hooded nib; yet is made for the future – this pen is hand assembled and made from durable precious resin, benefitting from Parker's expertise and reputation for superior craftmanship. From conception to assembly, the attention to detail is second to none. The cap is decorated with a complementary metallic jewel and each finish is inspired by heritage colours of the past, a tribute to the original Parker 51 range. Inspired by the past. Made for the future.

Review: Love the pen. - I like fountain pens and this pen was the closest option to the pen I used as a kid. The nib is smooth and the pen is beautifully constructed. The price point might be a problem for some as I think there is a nostalgia cost built into it. But as a pen this is a beautiful piece and I really enjoy using it.
Review: Excellent homage - The new Parker 51 is an excellent homage to the original 51, produced from 1941-1972 in the US, and into the 1980’s in Argentina on American equipment. The new pen is not an exact reproduction as there are a few minor differences between the two. I have three refurbished 51’s, and the new pen looks and feels like the original, but it’s about a half inch shorter. The cap doesn’t close with the familiar thunk sound as it now has a screw-in cap. While some people think that this method won’t last long, I have a Duofold from the 1920’s and a couple of other Parkers from the 1930’s with screw-in caps and they are still going strong. Granted, today’s plastic is not as solid, but you don’t need it to last almost a century. The classic arrow clip on the metal cap is long gone, along with the jewel on top, and it’s a shame that Parker didn’t bring them back. Finally, the primitive feeder systems have been replaced by a modern cartridge, but some the original 51 had cartridges from 1961-1963, so that’s not entirely different. Nevertheless, Parker should have included a converter along with the two cartridges. The good news is that the original 51’s write differently from other pens, and the new 51 carries over that tradition. The hooded nib works great although there is more separation from the cover. It’s just a great pen to write with and has excellent ink flow and a really nice script, so Parker has done a great job of reimagining the 51 for a new century. Just remember that it’s not the same pen, which I’m sure would be really expensive, and you will be really happy with your purchase.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is the metal ring supposed to be loose? I can rotate it around on my pen.**
A: If you mean the metal trim ring just above the barrel threads, it rotates on mine, but it's not "loose." Wouldn't have even noticed this if you hadn't asked, and I don't see it as posing any problem with the pen.

**Q: Is there a fountain pen for left handed writers? i thought i bought one at the mall of america many years ago. it looks like a fountain pen,**
A: You do not need a pen for a left-handed writer. Fountain pens are ambidextrous. Finer nibs will be more resistant to smudging and you can get inks that dry faster in order to further prevent smudging. I'm a left-handed writer and have a full collection of fountain pens that are not "left handed." There's no need to get a specially designed nib!

**Q: Is "precious resin barrel" a fancy term for plastic?**
A: Sorta, but not really. Yes, acrylic is a plastic. But a lot of engineering and artistic work goes into finished acrylics of this type. In this case, 'plastic' doesn't mean 'cheap'. It means a solid barrel not made of wood or metal but designed to be high quality and look/feel nice for many years.

**Q: Buenas tardes, es de embolo recargable o cartuchos?**
A: Hi Jaime Alberto, this is Ivana from Parker Consumer Care. Thank you for contacting us regarding our Parker 51 Fountain Pen. The pen comes with a cartridge but it can be used with a converter and bottled ink too.
