Love the alox in my collection
Great tools and classic functionality, combined with a style that is not the usual red plastic handle. Good addition to the collection. Recommend overall.

Classy and Elegant, but Tough As Nails
I love Victorinox Swiss Army Knives. I carried a Pioneer in my pocket for work for a number of years, and it got extensive use and held up very well. When I saw the Pioneer-X with the scissors I knew I had to get one. The Victorinox scissors are hands down the best multi-tool scissors on the market. Very sharp, smooth functioning, and can cut extremely well for their size. The Pioneer-X is a perfect EDC knife/multi-tool for an office/deskjob type setting. The Alox scales give it a very classy and professional look, and help make it seem less intimidating around a group of people in a corporate environment. Don't let the gorgeous looks fool you though, this knife is very tough and versatile and will hold up for a long time. Although it wouldn't be my first pick for a more industrial/construction/agricultural related job, or for outdoors and camping...within its limits, Im confident the Pioneer-X would handle most tasks it is needed for.

Excellent!
Excellent product! Great price! This is my second SAK purchase with alox scales. These scales are super sharp looking and feel great in your hand. Prior to this purchase, I was frequently carrying a Tinker or Spartan. I found myself frequently wanting the scissors for more precise cuts of smaller items (string, cable ties, tags on my children’s toys, etc...) The scissors on this knife are great - larger, sturdy, and sharp. I saw one or two reviews that complain about the sides of the scales not looking smooth or painted properly. I may be mistaken, but I do not believe these are painted, except for the red on the logo. I assume these scales are pressed and sheared from thin aluminum plates. The shearing can cause some minor irregularities on the edges that would be difficult to polish out in an assembly line or automated process. This is not an issue for me at the low price point of this great SAK. Highly recommended!

You should get one too.
Love it, been a Swiss Army fan and owner for more than 10 years, all I can say it is great quality and comes handy for many situations. This particular model, the Pioneer X, is a must, I have carried the little sister, the Cadet, because of the compact size and its functions, some of the times missing the scissors, this Pocket Knife comes to solve that missing feature, while maintaining its some how compact size, got to love this model.I love the Climber's model because of the tools, scissors and looks, it is handy, though its a bit too bulky for a everyDayCarry pocket knife, unless you throw it at the backpack, but whats the use if you cannot have it right away, as most of situations demands,? Anyways, I considered the Pioneer itself because it holds a larger main blade, while still being thin, though, as I repeat, the scissors are very very handy for Every Day Use, so decided to get this enhanced Pioneer Model, and give it a go for my every day. You should get one too.Attaching 3 of the Swiss Army knives I use the most, the one with the Yellow Lanyard is the Pioneer X, followed by the Climber in red, and the cadet with the rubber ring.

Very solid knife
I really like this version. The blade is a little thicker and sturdier than regular SAK's. The scissors are excellent. I don't carry this one a lot due to no toothpick or tweezers, but I do find I carry it around the house. It's great to have in your pocket on those weekend days when you're working around the house and doing lots of various chores. It comes in handy. If this is the only SAK you are going to own, I would get a more traditional model with the scale tools, but as an addition to your collection, this is a nice one to have.

Great knife
The Pioneer X Alox gets wonderful reviews. I love my SAK Compact, and wanted to get one for a friend, but I thought the Alox scales of the Pioneer might suit him a little better. When I compared the two knives, I had to go with the Compact simply because having only two layers makes it a little thinner and a little lighter. And I also like that the Compact has space in the scales for a few more tools - the "toothpick", tweezers, and pen. That said, if you don't need those tools and don't mind a slightly heavier knife, the Pioneer is a gorgeous knife with a lot of usefulness. It has both the traditional bottle- and can-opener with their flat-bladed screwdriver ends. Having the awl hinged on the end makes it much more useful than the center-hinged awls on other models. The scissors are, of course, legendary. My only quibble with the usefulness of the actual knife is that it can be hard to access the scissors - the three layers of tools at different heights can hide the thumbnail slot or put it so far down into the knife handle that it's hard to reach. Granted, that might have been the case only with the specific knife I had, or maybe the problem is me and my thumbnails!

Impeccable Fit and Finish
I have bought at least a few dozen Victorinox Swiss Army knives and kitchen cutlery knives since the 70s. This Pioneer X pocket knife is the best I have ever seen from Victorinox. Impeccable fit and finish. Weight and grip are perfect for this size and style of folder. Thickness and sturdiness of the tools in this Alox model are remarkable In comparison to the still high-quality Cellidor models. Many buyers seem torn between this Pioneer X model with scissors vs the Farmer model with saw. I find the superb scissors much more useful on a routine basis. If I think I’ll need a saw, I’ll carry my Leatherman. Highest quality Swiss army knife I have ever owned or seen.
