Lovely scales, easy to use, easy to store

I used to have the black colour version of these scales & lasted me years with regular & sometimes heavy usage ( ie anywhere between twice a month to twice or more - up to about 6 times - daily at certain times of year) & they only gave up recently. I needed new scales in a hurry & ordered some so-called “super accurate” / but…. a different make of scales for next day delivery. Big mistake, big big mistake! Batch after batch failed & realised other make scales were weighing incorrectly!! Ordered these …. And yes! Batch after batch is perfect! Excellent scales, they look good, are nicely made, arrived well packaged, are easy to use and to damp wipe clean etc. Weights are easy to read / change/ tare function etc. Am very happy with them & would recommend. Wish I’d waited the few extra days in first place. Lesson learnt. Can’t really comment on battery life on these ones as new; but my previous ones, battery lasted for ages & it’s easy to change. You do need a small /mini cross head screwdriver for preference, but no need to throw scales out because you can’t change the battery 🤣. I like the shiny silver , have seen other reviews re scratches etc but I’ve not found that - I do use glass bowls etc for weighing. I’m very happy with these.

A Chrome kitchen scale with no scratchproofing? Well if you bought this for the aesthetics you're likely to be disappointed because though the shape of this thing / design is really nice and modern and attractive, it's made out of the world's most scratchable material (cheap chrome). Stainless steel would've cost more I guess. ANYWAY we bought this as a replacement for our previous set of Salter kitchen scales, and using it couldn't really be easier. It does all the usual measurement types (including fl which is really useful) and does all the usual 'add in' weighing etc. We tend to do a lot of baking where we measure straight from the mixing bowl - so you can imagine what a pottery mixing bowl's base does to the surface of a scratchable piece of chrome. Accuracy - we measured this against other scales and it's bang on, no problems with that at all. Sometimes found it a bit 'twitchy' to zero the counter and get it bang on zero (every little movement sets this thing off so use a steady hand and don't buy it your for OAP parents if they've got Parkinsons!) Overall, it's all about the looks baby. If you want a set of scales to put in your newly fitted kitchen and just look at (and you're one of the rare folk who manages to get one of these delivered without a few scratches on it already - despite ours being sealed it had one scratch on it straight out of the box) then you'll likely find this extremely good value for money. Were bought as replacement scales for an old Salter electronic unit whucg had died on us. Seems to work exactly the same but a bit disappointed that the base was smaller than before. I hope these scales last longer than the previous ones.

I wanted to replace a similar Salter scale - it had lasted years, but had slowed down with old age. This is better-looking (stainless steel, rather than black plastic), and equally slim, so fits in a drawer. I'd hoped to give it full marks, but so far it's not living up to the performance of its predecessor. Ordered on 17 November, and in use only a couple of weeks so far, it's already shown 'LO' on the battery, and given up. Its multi-functions switch around at random sometimes (this might be the fault of the expiring battery); and now I've tried to change the battery, I can't get the battery cover off. Other people here say it will just slide off with a finger, but I've forced it as much as I dare (without it breaking), and it seems attached by the tiny screw. You would need a screwdriver made by elves to get this undone, and so far, I haven't managed it. If I could get the new battery in, then I might find myself with a good new set of scales, but at the moment, I'm looking at a useless kitchen ornament. Update: The elves provided. A miniature screwdriver from a Christmas cracker has done the job. If the new battery lasts beyond the New Year, and cures the scales of twitching, I’ll add the missing star.
