Installation not as hard as you think
Installed on a Surly disc trucker and they easily fit. Check the space under the brake bridge and between the chain stays near the bottom bracket of your bike, if it’s around 2” or better you’re good. Less clearance than that may still work if you’re willing to wrestle with it a bit. Mostly I was concerned about my 38mm wide tires fitting, but they fit great and you could easily get a 40 or 42mm tire under there. I read many reviews here and numerous other forums elsewhere with people saying these are hard to install. They are not hard at all if you have the aforementioned clearance, feel somewhat comfortable working on your bike and take your time. Don’t let it worry you, but plan to take your time to do it right. I read the instructions, laid out all the various parts on a table, then spent about an hour mounting each fender. They are very well made with straightforward mounting, and aside from the rather high cost, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

Be prepared to cut to fit
Velo Orange produces beautiful, carefully crafted bike parts for, to be honest, the bike snob. I'm not a snob in that sense, but I do like to kit my bikes out. I ordered a new pair of fatter winter tires for my bike, which was really designed to be a "comfy stroll to the park in summer" kind of machine, but found the factory fenders just couldn't accommodate the extra bulk. In comes Velo Orange. These fenders are aluminum, which makes them way lighter than the steel ones they replaced. Unfortunately, that doesn't matter so much as my bike frame alone is roughly 30 lbs. worth of steel, but you'll be surprised how light these things are. Some things to note about aluminum is that it is strong and light...relative to its weight. The fenders arrived with a notable bend in the middle of the arch, which I managed to 90% straighten out, but I was still miffed that the fenders didn't arrive totally intact. Aluminum is also fairly easy to cut, which you might have to do--the seatstays on my bike were too narrow to accommodate the fender at the hole used to secure the rear fender near the bottom bracket. I was able to bend the fender (don't do this too much; aluminum is brittle and can break suddenly) to fit, but then the sides dug into the tire and I couldn't turn the wheel.A butcher job later* (sorry, Igor, I know you winced) and a little polishing/smoothing with my dremel and I was able to get the rear fender to fit appropriately onto the frame. Go slow, use a good cutting wheel on a dremel and plan how much material you have to remove to make it work. If you're conservative with removal, you can make the fenders fit really well.Installation for these is slow, and I've set up fenders several times before. There's a bunch of interesting little installation options, like the daruma nut, but unless you're a randonneuring nerd I recommend keeping it simple and going with the basic L-bracket, nuts and bolts. The daruma method did not, for instance, work on my fork. (Update, 12/7/19: actually, it did. I just had to turn my bike upside-down and work, like all things involving these fenders, slow.)It also technically "requires" a way to cut the fender stays to length, but I wasn't going to sit here and grind off these thick metal stays with my dremel, so they're au naturale for the time being. It's not that bad unless you have a really small frame or something. The instructions leave a little to be desired; I would have liked more guidance on when, for instance, to use the leather washers. Going off of the instructions there's only one or two places you'd need to use them, but they give you quite a few. Definitely use the washers on some tight fits; they help to spread out the pressure and avoid cracking.*(I used a wire cutter, which I do NOT recommend, but I was desperate to get these on my commuter ASAP. You'll get so many rough, ugly cuts. Don't do this.)

The best fenders for the money.
These are the best fenders for the money available on planet earth. They can also take half a day to install. But then you're done. No rattle and they look great. I mounted a tail light to mine and use the front to hold a dynamo lamp. For durability use the included reinforcement plate when mounting the front and try to use the daruma method for front mounting. In the rear use the crimped bracket. Don't use the L brackets if you don't need to. This will make your install extra sturdy and immune to loosening.I use this on a European style roadster that gets ridden daily and they are absolutely fantastic. The only better fender is Honjo. Get those if you need a cm more toe clearance or need to run a tail light wire as the edges are nicely rolled.

good fenders
Well made fenders, everything required for mounting was included. Installed on a Rivendell Rosco Bubbe with 700cX38mm Compass Steilacoom tires, a perfect fit. They are a bit more challenging to install than SKS fenders, but lighter and look really nice.

They work
Just tested on a 16 mile commute or touring type ride including some very bumpy potholes, riding over curbs and some gravel roads etc. They didn’t rattle or go out of position, so A+ for that.Minus 1 star because of mottled finish on the back of the rear fender and other blemishes on both fenders. The pics are of a 58cm frame with 700 x 38 tires. The specs for these fenders say 700 x 37 max, but they fit these 38’s.Set up was hard. The pics show the L-bracket attachment in the front and the crimp bracket on the rear. You can see I haven’t trimmed the ends of the stays yet. This rear fender would not have worked on this Motobecane X3 as stock because the R-clips/stays interfere with either the axel or the disk brake caliper bolt depending on which way you orient them. I had to drill and tap into the aftermarket cargo rack to attach the stays.Cool product. Very old-school. Could use some updated technology for the attachments.

Once they are mounted they look great and work perfectly
Solid fenders. They require a few hours of work to get installed correctly, and you will have to bend them a little to fit. Once they are mounted they look great and work perfectly. I was a little worried that they might rattle or make noise, but I drop my bike from a couple inches and they don't move or make a sound.

Shiny
These fenders add a nice old-fashioned touch to my commuting bike. And they will offer good protection from splatters on wet or muddy roads. Installation was not too difficult. Just read the directions first, and take your time.

Good quality fenders
These are good quality fenders although my tire size is 700 x 50C so they did not fit my bike. The arc would have to be a little larger and they could be a little wider and a little flatter. If you try to stretch the arc the fender becomes narrower and likewise if you try to stretch the width the arc gets tighter. Even though the fenders are said to be 52 mm wide keep in mind that that is the fender width and not the tire width.
