The calcium load was already reduced by my Pelican filtration system from 600ppm to 200ppm and it also lowered the TDS from 1800ppm to 600ppm which is also great. Because of this dramatic change for the better I added the same filter to my secondary ice maker (Uline) which should decrease the cleaning from every 6 months to 12 months. In addition, since I need to clean the external pool 4 cartridige tank at least 3 to 4 times a year using the old system but now will add another filter to the standard hose system to also decrease any additional Calcium being added when refilling the external pool cartridge tank. This may seem to be over indulgent but at this price it ultimately makes my life better since I have less concern of calcium issues with the management of the entire pool. Great product. I learned about this filter by exploring desertcart. Deelivery was fast and the placement of the filter for the outside hose was very simple. For the house secondary ice maker I had to get a buch of parts to adapt to a my valve and with help from Ace hardware I spent about $70 to adapt this filter into my inline water system for the ice maker. Easy to do and based on water usage for the ice maker I will not need to change this filter more than once a year. Review: I bought a 30 foot mister with very fine nozzles that need to stay clear to work. The seller recommended this to keep the system working properly. Unfortunately, we don't have a number on the amount of water this can filter before the end of its life. My assumption is that this depends on how much calcium is in the water and being filtered. Some have reported as little as 6 months, some have reported years. **Q: I have tried multiple hoses and 2 filters and the hose leaks profusely at the connection or the pressure pushes the hose off. Looking for help.** A: Make sure the gaskets are seated. Also you can use 'Plumbers Tape' for such threads that may help. Check the quality of the threads on your hose and on the unit for any damage or defect. I have mine on full with no filter (I installed a simple hose screen with built in gasket sand filter) and it wanted to lean because the mesh screen insert is slightly thicker, but the tape sealed it just fine. Just wrap it counter to the direction of the movement of screwing the filter on (so it doesn't unwrap) for 1.5 to 2 complete wraps and it should be fine if everything else is kosher. **Q: The label on the cartridge clearly states this filter is for solid sediments, not dissolved solids like salts. Is that hold true?** A: This contains Polyphosphates, for dissolving calcium. Polyphosphates are approved by FDA and used in municipal water supplies. When your Ph goes > 7.5 bicarbonates precipitate causing plugging. The polyphosphates work around the problem. Obviously if they were 100% effective we would have the water problems we have.
