Bestar Pur Full Size Murphy Bed in White, 59-inch Space-Saving Sleeping Arrangement for Multipurpose Area, Bedroom, Guest Room, or Living Room

For background I'm a woman in my 40s, and was able to install this completely by myself in a few hours.The bed came in 4 huge very heavy boxes. I needed someone to help lift them into my house and in an adjoining room to where I wanted to install the bed. It is well packed with lots of cardboard and styrofoam surrounding the items. Nothing was damaged in transit. The material is particleboard, but very thick and study and when assembled it looks nice and is better quality than I was expecting.I have children and was worried about them being able to open it themselves, but the handles are high up, and requires adult strength to pull open and hold up while moving supporting bar around the mattress, my very strong 8 year old could not do independently.I was nervous to put this together by myself based on the reviews, but the directions were simple and easy to follow and required minimal tools. I used the mattress I had purchased to hold the bed open when required (while still in box), a second person was not actually necessary for anything other than lifting the boxes inside my home.I was also nervous about the mattress fitting and the 10 inch pillow top that I purchased fits with ease under the supporting frame. I do not think a thicker mattress will fit, however.Because I installed it on carpet I have to plane the bottom molding as it pops off when I open the bed due to the carpet height underneath. This wouldn't be a problem when installing on other flooring.

Please read other reviews about installation. What I will say is that I am a middle-aged woman and I live alone. I was intimidated by the other reviews that said assembly was complex and needed two people, so I hired a handyman duo to install, they messed it up so badly that I had them leave after a day and half of listening to them curse, drill, and break things. I was pretty dejected about the whole thing. I had another 2 handymen come look and not be sure that they could fix it. Well I decided to disassemble what the idiot crew had done and start from scratch. I was able to assemble and install the bed completely by myself, all it takes is attention to the DETAILS IN THE INSTRUCTIONS. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AND DON'T HIRE A MAN TO DO IT - they think they're smarter than the instructions. Other than having to replace hardware that my hired "help" broke, I only had one issue. When you are adjusting the height level of the leveling feet, do not adjust too much or the bed won't close flush with the top of the structure. I didn't realize this until the door panels were on, so I had to take the panels off and basically go back to the steps prior to piston install, lower the leveling feet, re-re-install the frame, and voila, the front panel clears the top of the bed structure. There is approx. 1 1/16" difference in height between the metal from and the wood door panels, so keep that in mind when you are at Step 22 To Close the Metal Base. This step is to ensure that the metal closes correctly and is in alignment, but keep in mind your clearance needs to account for the wooden panels. The instructions don't point this out, and there is no troubleshooting guide. My only other advice is that if you are going to assemble and install by yourself, you will need something fairly heavy (50 lbs or so), to hold the bed open while you install the slats. Enjoy the bed, and if you are average intelligence or more, you should be able to do this by yourself if you follow instructions. Best of luck! (Will try to upload pics, however that may be more complex than bed assembly since I am over the age of 40 :)) I love this bed, it is functional, and good quality for the price point.

Space saving:Had some problem with shipping damage. But the Bestar company sent me a new part right away. But the new part was for a newer model, not mine, so now I'm waiting for the correct part. The quality and fit has been good with the other parts I put together.

This was the worst experience with a company and their customer service ever. As a company, Bestar falsely advertises the appropriate size of the mattress it will properly accommodate, and their customer service (as a whole) was not helpful, wasted my time, was incompetent, and rude As a product manufacturer, they have drained a part that will damage your mattress unless it is less than 8 inches in height.I ordered their Bestar Pur 65 queen bed. First, it came without about 25% of the installation parts so half way through installation we had to wait for those to be shipped. My fault for not checking every part before starting. The parts went to the wrong address so they resent them. Then we realized the bed frame was bent. Installed it anyway after hammering it out. By the time we finished installation it was about a month after receiving the box.They advertise that the bed will accommodate a mattress 8-12 inches. Then lo and behold - a 12 inch mattress will not allow the door to close completely. And a 10 inch mattress does not properly fit. Yes, it will close. Yes, you can sleep on it. However, when it is in storage position, there are two metal support bars with a “lip” on them that presumably are meant to go over the top of the head of the mattress to hold it in place while stored. I mean - for what other purpose is that lip?! The problem is that unless you have a 6-7 inch mattress, the top part of the mattress (where your head sleeps) does not fit under that lip. Rather, it “digs into” the side of the 10 inch mattress. After a month of storing the bed in an upright position, the mattress already has a large indention. I’m not an engineer, but I can already see that this is going to eventually permanently damage my mattress.When I contacted Bestar, after multiple very frustrating conversations, their final response was that the lip was not intended to fit “over” the mattress and that they do not recommend a memory foam mattress. What?! They advertise that the bed will fit a standard queen mattress 8-10 inches. The only indication regarding what mattress to not use is a futon mattress.I finally asked for a refund of what I spent on the mattress $423 so I could purchase a 6 inch inner spring mattress. Then they said “we don’t recommend a 6 inch mattress. And NOwe aren’t refunding any money.”I then asked to speak to the legal department or corporate headquarters to talk about the false advertising. They refused to give me their phone numbers. All they gave me was a generic email address.In hindsight, I wish I had not invested $1500 in this bed despite the number of reviews. I would have bought a much cheaper version. So very disappointing with the ENTIRE purchase start to finish. It was a lot of money for the lack of quality control, false advertising, and lack of serious customer service.I complained to Amazon, and Bester sent me a return authorization. Are you serious? This thing is already installed into my wall. Unbelievable.I love Amazon. They make things right. But this seller - beware. There are not ALOT of Murphy bed sellers with a lot of reviews but you’re better bet it to buy a much cheaper version.In hindsight, I wish we had bought a wall bed frame for a few hundred dollars and hired someone to build a better quality solid wood surround. The bed does not need to wood surround to operate. It’s just for aesthetics (and Bestar’s is cheap particle board anyway).
