Doo Wops & Hooligans

I am really into doo-wop and bought this CD just because of the title. Guess what? There is no doo-wop songs on it, nor is there anything that even comes close. No vocal harmonies at all. It's just a bunch of luke warm songs that are completely unremarkable. On top of that, I didn't pay attention and ended up ordering the disk from England - and I am on the west coast of the USA.

Before Superbowl 48 I never heard of Bruno Mars. Then his Halftime performance. !WOW! He describes it best "NAILED IT". After the game I orderd his 2 CD's and he nailed it with them also. His voice is a Gritty Tenor, nice range and a Silky Soulful texture. He does not muffle his lyrics, you understand everything he say and you want to understand what he is saying. They are more than cute Hooks they are real life Rhapsodies of a Romantic. Oh so refreshing. If these guys can steer clear of the trappings that go with fame and fortune they should have a long and successful career.

Packaging and inner sleeve are very nice, record fairly flat and glossy. Unfortunately, the sound is very thin and the vocal track is very very quiet. If this had been a download, I would delete and try again it's so bad. Not at all Bruno's fault, just bad QC I assume.

I was turned on to Bruno Mars in July of 2016 when I took a trip to Guatemala to visit family. She had a CD in her car with all Bruno Mars. Everytime we went somewhere his music was playing. I fell in love with his music, style and genius and this CD did not disappoint. I now have all of his released CD's.

Glancing through the songs on Doo-Wops & Hooligans, we were surprised by how many of the songs we know and enjoyed. So before taking a family trip, we added it to our road collection. It stayed in our CD player for most of the trip with my wife and I and both children enjoying the music. There is not a miss on this album. Even the songs that were not released are toe-tapping catchy.As parents, we did recognize that some lyrical topics are not the best for our children, it is not language that is concerning. So a conversation about the lyrics and a check of their understanding of appropriateness and we were good to listen. This one will remain in the car for future enjoyment.

I bought this cd after just becoming aware of this young man by hearing several of these tunes on the radio and enjoying them very much. Great dancing beat on most of them, to exercise with and it also brings my mood up tremendously. All but one of the songs are playing on the local radio stations and on Pandora.The first time I listened to the whole cd, I thought Gee, that was short, I think they didn't put very many tunes on this cd so that explains the low price. So I replayed it and paid attention to the number on the display screen. By gosh, I was wrong; it is a full length cd. It's just so wonderful that time flys by really fast. I'm up for getting more Bruno Mars cds!

Considering it's his first album, I would say it's a well deserved commercial success. I have been listening for years, and it stand the passing of time. Most songs are just great, catchy, and enjoyable... and they're not special songs... his voice does the magic!

After hearing "Billionaire" and "Just The Way You Are", I decided to make a leap and purchase this album. I'm not usually a fan of mainstream pop artists, but I was absolutely blown away by this album, from start to finish! Bruno presents a style that's both easy going yet makes you wanna jump up and start dancing. He and his production team masterfully create songs that are very easy to listen to and enjoy, and just make you feel good. Even the more "emo" tracks ("Grenade", "Talking to the Moon", "Liquor Store Blues") have a lighthearted feel to them. Nothing groundbreaking or challenging here, just allow yourself to be serenaded by Bruno's carefree notes and you will be very satisfied. Favorites: "Runaway Baby", "Marry You", "The Other Side"

Truly excellent music. Something for almost everyone.Everyone has to pick and choose their own selection and there is little chance of finding a CD collection spanning a decade when you will recognise the entire content by name or tune.I doubt I could name two of the album tracks and can make little comment other than to say there is some cracking good music on here.I am 56, my wife 51, my sons 30 and 31, their wives 28 and 27. yet there is music here that we all like.Give it a go, download your choices and then charity shop the CD or sell it to Magpie, who then supply the likes of Pound landDo not forget to look at the used CD versions, substantially less expensive and just as good.IF YOU FIND THIS REVIEW USEFUL PLEASE CLICK THE USEFUL REVIEW BUTTON THANK YOU

I don't know how to objectively review something that is obviously completely subjective. It was a gift for my sister, it's exactly what she wanted, she loves it, it's a CD that I ordered, that's exactly what I received, there were no issues with it's condition or ability to play, so I am left with no option but to give it 5 stars.I cannot comment as to how good the content is on it, I am not a fan which is why I wouldn't have ordered it for myself. I am pretty sure anyone ordering a CD knows what they are going to hear in advance, so if you like this, get it, if you don't, don't, and if you are unsure maybe google it and listen to the tracks on youtube before you buy it blind.

There is still something special about CDs. It's a little like real books and MP3. Something tangible.Personally my favourite song is still " JUST THE WAY YOU ARE" - I remember falling in love when the song first came out and the feeling still comes back. Another good song is "THE LAZY SONG". There is a fair share of melancholic songs and a few that are a bit more upbeat.I bought the CD for my niece as a present - she enjoyed it - I remember when I got it for her - when the album was released she just started to study at university - and she just qualified - I saw the DVD in her car and thought I've never reviewed it. Till now.

I bought this after buying Bruno Mars' latest album. There are some great songs on this album. The hits of Grenade, Just The Way You Are, The Lazy song are great but one of my favourites is Runaway Baby. It's really upbeat and a proper foot tapper. My other favourite is Talking To The Moon which is a lovely slow song. Bruno Mars has a great voice. If you've bought this and not go his other album then I suggest you do as you won't be disappointed or if like me you're bought the 2nd one and not this one, get it!!

When purchasing the vinyl. I was a little confused if the reviews where for the cd or vinyl, so took a gamble. When receiving the vinyl it kept jumping a lot on the songs (jumping that much it ruined the songs). So I decided to stick a 2p with bluetac on top of the needle, to apply abit of weight. It now plays perfect with no jumping. No idea why it does without the 2p, as I own vinyl that is a lot older and they don't require no extra weight. Overall with the 2p on top, it works perfect.

The songs and singer are great but I'm not rating Bruno I'm rating the vinyl record . 2 in a row have gone back warped and sleeve damage due to very poor packing and sealing from manfacturer but I had 1 good one and it sounds good but clearly this is not a great pressing . I think in this instance the CD would be a better choice for sound clarity

This CD contains several already released hits and I'm sure some not yet released ones. Bruno Mars has a great voice and in places sounds like Michael Jackson (infact, if MJ was alive and making contemporary music, this could be it).I like every song on it. "Marry You" is sure to be used in TV shows and by guys proposing to their girlfriends - a genius song for Bruno to make.Very romancy music but equally good as a nice chillout background CD, completely unoffensive, just a nice set of songs. Very easy voice to listen to. Echoes to songs of a by-gone era.

Excellent CD album with one great track after another. Bruno Mars has a fantastic and versatile singing voice. Look forward to future albums from him!

Great album by Mr Mars. Some cracking well-known songs - Grenade, Marry You, the Lazy Song, Count On Me and Just The Way You Are, and a few new great ones like Liquor Store Blues and Talking To The Moon. Great price.

Got this and it was scratched...I got it replaced by Amazon and received the replacement the next day and it was amazing I love this album cant wait for the next one to arrive

Absolutely excellent, I was knocked out....I expected to just listen to this Bruno Mars guy after hearing the Marry Me and Just the way you are (which at first confused me into thinking of one direction) on my car radio, and put it away....but the tracks, arrangements and his remarkable voice was superb........Motown must have gone into a spin when they realised what a mistake they made in dropping him.

Bought as gift, they were happy and enjoyed it so 5 stars.

My wife and daughter love this in the car, though it tends to make my ears bleed very quickly!Thankfully my daughter does not yet realise what this sad guy is talking about having his hand in his pants all day, but that's obviously what stimulates his lyrics.Three stars ONLY because they like it, otherwise, it's certainly a waste of studio time and plastic!
