... it is a inexpensive cpu and it does run good and works well enough
not impressed but then again it is a inexpensive cpu and it does run good and works well enough. But I thought it would be a bit faster and score a bit higher in WEI. It scored a 6.5 in win 7 ultimate on WEI. you get what you pay for.

Well-priced "basic" CPU, good performance
A good basic processor that hits the sweet spot of price-to-performance for most users' needs. Unlike Intel's cheaper Celerons, it is dual core, and has more cache than the high end of the current Celeron lineup, which are only slightly cheaper. Unlike the more powerful Intel i3 linup, this Pentium lacks HT, turbo-boost, the bigger cache, the faster bus and clock speeds, but it comes respectably close to its big brother's numbers for 1/3 to 1/2 the price. The 32nm build process makes for a cooler-running (lower-powered) chip than previous generations. My Foxconn RM1-H2 mini computer with this CPU, 2 7200rpm drives, and 2GB RAM idles at less than 45W. With 64-bit support, VT hooks, onboard graphics, this fit my basic server needs perfectly. On FreeBSD 8.3, it shows up as: Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU G630 @ 2.70GHz (2693.90-MHz K8-class CPU) In a very simple (artificial) straight-line integer performance test called speedf that I use to compare integer performance between CPUs (single-core single-thread sequential crypt operations), this CPU clocked 306K per second vs 277K per second on an Intel Core2 Duo E8400 3GHZ. (as an aside, it's always good to check Intel's "Ark" website to compare the specs on their prolific portfolio of processors) With no HT, only 2 cores, no dual-socket capability, and modest performance, this isn't the optimal choice for high-end workstation or gaming needs, nor for a busy server workload, but for basic desktop usage or simple servers, it's inexpensive and works well. Recommended.

Great CPU for resonable use
If you are wanting to play lots of games, edit video, compile programs, S T O P. This isn't for you. Odds are you already know this. This is a great CPU at 2.7 GHz, Dual Core(No HT), and 3 MB of L3 Cache. Temps stay in a decent range. Mine tops out at about 38°C with the stock fan and 3 120mm fans but normally it is around 32°C. I cant give an accurate review for each individual case because I only use this for a custom Debian NAS/Media Server. In my server I have a Hardware RAID card with 4 x 2 TB Drives in RAID 5. This alone keeps CPU usage down. But since I use the on-board LAN the CPU plays a big part. Under normal operation I use about 15% of the CPU. But during transfers of back-ups or large files I have seen it reach 65%. And my wired LAN reaches about 100 MB/s which converts to about 845 Mb/s over gigabit LAN. Since my Raid controller is hardware the CPU is reserved mostly for the LAN which allows me to reach those speeds. My R/W on the array is ' 225 MB/s but Gigabit LAN cant touch that speed. But like I said this is a NAS/ Media Server. I have had this running for 9 months 3 days 11 hours 31 min (based on the up time indicator on the server) running 24/7 and no issues so far. It wasn't as cheap when I bought it but it was just released. Overall I give this CPU 5 stars because it is stable and reliable. It does its job and I don't need to think about it. And that is what should happen with your CPU. If you are looking for a cheap stable CPU for web, light games, server capabilities this is it. I wouldn't try COD or Skyrim on it.

It's still working pretty great almost 2 years after I purchased it for $64 for my family's desktop computer. The graphics performance was great for a while, but I now notice tiny little hitches when it tries to handle full 1080p video. These hitches seem to manifest, if I recall correctly, when the video first starts, and maybe a little bit if you were to skip around in an HD video. Otherwise, the integrated Intel HD Graphics works pretty well for a 2 year old, $60-80 CPU. I think it slightly outdid my old laptop, which had an Geforce 9600m or 9800m. Pretty sweet little CPU for a budget build, although you'll want the G3258 Pentium if you're looking for a budget processor these days.

Intel pentium
I upgraded from a old 939 board & amd processor on the recommendation of my nephew and the bottom line is I am very happy !

This is a great processor
This is a two core processor with built-in HD graphics chip from Intel. Even though Intel's specs don't mention the "generation" of the grapics chip, in a running system it's reported as 2-nd generation. Same as most i3 come with. The graphics performance is surprisingly good. I don't have any need for discreet video card for regular desktop use anymore. Coupled with Intel H77 based motherboard, the system runs cool and whisper quiet. In other words, you get pretty much bottom of the line i3 at half the price. Just what the doctor's ordered.

Decent for low end gaming
This processor came with my pre-built HP Pavilion, I knew nothing about computers when I bought it but wasn't very happy that I got terrible frames on games. I then added a msi twin frozr 560ti and combined with the processor and that gfx card I could run most gpu intensive games on high-max and then cpu intensive games on mid-high gfx. I am upgrading to an I5 3570k along with getting a new motherboard because this doesn't cut it with what I want to do. If you are building a very limited budget computer I would recommend it with as long as you get a pretty decent gfx card (probably 550/650 at least) if you have the money an i3 would be way better and you will get better frames however if you plan on doing recordings or want to max out stuff and have many open programs then I would recommend getting an i5 or i7 as they will be 10x better with the quad cores and higher Ghz but much more expensive.

Happy!
WOW! I just finish my new build with that processor, 8GB RAM, SDD (120Gb) and combo BluRay drive, microATX mobo. I can restart computer in about 30 sec! (with some software installed already). Main thing is when I just use it for Internet browsing etc. it takes about 33 watts (max about 70!). Great performance. If you need good computer for web browsing, HD/DVD movies, writing is perfect. When you add good graphic card you can play games without problem :). Windows Score 6.6, HDD 7.9, Memory 7.4.
