Hi Amalie, I want to assure you that we at Melissa & Doug take safety very seriously. We test our products to stringent global standards that assess chemical content. These standards ensure that we exceed expectations for the control of restricted substances and heavy metals (such as lead). You may find additional information regarding our comprehensive testing program and commitment to safety on our site. http://melissaanddoug.com/safety

do these fit in the puzzle rack from Melissa and Doug?

This puzzle should fit in this rack: https://www.amazon.com/Melissa-Doug-Deluxe-Storage-Puzzles/dp/B00146I2WM/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=melissa+and+doug+puzzle+rack&qid=1575377243&s=toys-and-games&sr=1-1

What is safe to clean these puzzles that will no effect the paint? They are having to be clean every day and some of the paint is coming off.

I would try Simple Green. It is safe non toxic or you could look online for a diy (do it yourself) paint safe cleaner. I use Simple Green for everything. I hope this helps.

has the red and orange color issue been resolved?

There was never an issue with the red or orange on the puzzle I bought.
