I would be cautious of using any sort of chemicals around something you will be eating. We have a peonie garden of over 200 plants, and every year we spend days pulling tall grass from the flowers. This year we sprayed the ground 3 times before the plants emerged, and it killed the grass, and the flowers are doing the best they have ever done. It does take 3 weeks to kill the grass though. So don't be discouraged when you don't see immediate results. We kept spraying them because they weren't dying. Then saw that the grass was dying after 3 weeks just like the label said.
