WARNING: This is my 2nd time purchasing this item becasue my first Gnome ran away with my rain gauge. He was on my front porch and just disappeared one day. I think I'll glue his little feet down this time and see how he likes that.

The rain catcher gnome is cute and functional, but note that it is VERY SMALL. I realize the dimensions are probably in the product description, but sometimes I guess my eye goes to the picture along with the product and I thought this was going to be larger. However, it does work and stays in place even with the strong wind that just came through, and has captured several inches of rain this past week here in Central Florida. The tube fits in the gnome's hands as pictured and slides out easily to be emptied. The seller was Melville Direct and the package arrived in a tiny Styrofoam package which was a little weird, but worked.

This little Gnome is a cutie. He's small but I popped him on top of a stone paver in my flowerbed and he makes up for his small size with a lot of personality. I thought I might have to glue him to the paver but so far he's made it through several blowing storms without a tip. I'm not sure how accurate the rain gauge is, my big yard gauge and the Gnome disagree with the Gnome usually showing a bit more quantity. Maybe because he has to stand around in the sun and the rain he exaggerates his storm story. He's a great addition to my flowerbed.

I saw this little guy on Amazon several times before deciding to buy. I had already replaced a clear plastic rain gauge that sticks in the ground which the weather over time had covered in non-removable slime and made the numbers impossible to see. I decided I wanted something decorative that would accomplish the same thing that I could display near my front porch. I showed this gnome to someone who mentioned that the small glass rain gauge part may be too small to collect raindrops accurately. I figured if it was sold as a rain gauge, it should meet whatever criteria is needed. It's still on my kitchen counter, so I don't know yet if it will work. But, it was so darn cute, I couldn't resist. If I have anything to add later to this review, I will.

Don’t waste your money on this. First thing we had to do was glue the glass tube to the base because the receptacle for it was so shallow it barely stayed in. The whole thing is so lightweight it blows over every time the wind blows over 20 mph, which was every time we had a rainstorm. So much for measuring rainfall. Today my husband drilled a hole in the bottom and filled the base with gravel in hope we might actually get some use out of it.

I bought this because I wanted a whimsical rain gauge for my garden. This fits the bill, though it's much smaller than I expected. Unfortunately, you have to constantly adjust the glass tube because it tilts and then you don't get an accurate rain reading. He also blows over if there is any sort of wind, defeating the purpose of having a rain gauge. So I've ordered another one, a basic one that will just measure the rain, and leave this guy in the garden because he's cute.

This gnome rain gauge is cute! It is heavy enough to not blow over and seems accurate. Easy to empty the rain gauge part. My only complaint is the size of the numbers on the gauge - they are tiny! You shouldn’t have to squint at the numbers to read the amounts. It is only about 8” high so put it up on something if you don’t want to bend down.

I was on the lookout for a cute, whimsical rain gauge and this little guy sure caught my eye. Having looked at some reviews, I knew he would be right at home on my porch, glued to a small rock to hold him in place against the howling winds Central Texas can throw at homes here. So far he has soldered brilliantly against 45-mph winds and thundershowers dumping three inches of rain overnight without a noise of complaint or a fade of paint.

Very happy with this rain catcher. Looks good in the garden and holds the glass gauge very well. Very handy at the moment with the current storms.

My mum loved it. It made her laugh when she saw it, so mission accomplished.
