Worked for me!
I bought this to sharpen an old Record plane which had been abused for many years and was pretty useless for even rough hacking. My thought being that I couldn't make it worse and that buying a new blade or plane was an expensive option. Watched a few videos on YouTube t get the general idea and went for it. I used a honing guide to set the angle and after about 10 minutes on the 400 grit I managed to get most of the dents out and the edge was looking a lot better. A few more minutes on the 1000 grit side and I set the blade back in the plane and gave it a go, MUCH BETTER! I'm not using the plane for fine carpentry and my quick sharpen was perfectly adequate or my purposes. I used a cheap honing guide (6 quid) to get the angle consistent. Going to have a go at my blunt chisels next.
