How does it work? Do you have to adjust the shirt fist to be completely flat so it doesn't create creases?

You iron the collar first, then put the back on presser up to the collar and take several movements of the press to get to the bottom of the back, turn to front and fit presser on the front up to the collar. It may take another movement down to get the rest of lower front. Do the other side the same way, turn and flatten each sleeve flat and press each one and done. no wrinkles anywhere, I spray inside of shirts with spray starch before pressing.

i want to use it to iron 18' X 22" linen napkins; can Do it in one shot or wil I have to fold the napkin?

I have ironed fabric yardage with this press. I don't think you would have to fold it, just fan fold the fabric toward the back of the press and move it forward so you press maybe twice but you will get most of it the first time. I ironed pillow cases with it also - great press!

Can you press pants creases with this? I need something that will do a nice, lasting press.

Yes, this does a nice job of pressing pant creases. And, you only need press one side, no need to flip over and press again. I'm very happy with this purchase. The more you use it, the more you will like it.

Can I use this without steam? I would only need to use this product for dry iron silk.

Yes you can use it without steam. There is a silk temperature setting which does not use steam even if there is water in the resovoir.

Seventeen year of getting thing iron out.

I purchase this steamfast in 2009 and it is still preforming great. It does t-shirt, jeans, bedding, towels and shirts. Really anything that requires ironing. I will add I'm fussy with my dress shirts so I resort to and Ironing board and iron to obtain the finish I prefer. I'm not saying you can't do dress shirts. I viewed a gentleman on YouTube where he did a dress shirt and he was satisfied. The company located in Kansas, they are very responsive just great. I have purchase replacement for the Ironing surface, the the OEM cover and foam pad several times over the years. I have never had a mechanical issue with the product. I set it up on a corner of my kitchen island and listen and watch TV while I knock out my Ironing.

I love this iron. Easy to use and TIME SAVER! It took me 3 minutes to press the pillow sham. I used once in 4 Yrs. Now I can use it regularly and not dread ironing. New user but seems like good quality. I did my home work on YouTube and consumer reports and this one is top 10.
