Does it dry clear or does it have a color? I am looking for a flexible glue to repair a black leather coat.

I don't think it dries clear. On the things I was putting it on, gluing leather soles to shoes, it would dry in a light brown color. The color was not all uniform either, I think it was darker in areas that were slightly thicker with glue.

The directions are slightly unclear about the 20 minute timeframe. Does it need to sit for 20 minutes to become tacky?

You should let it sit for 20 minutes before pressing the pieces together. It will go from a thick liquid to very tacky during that time. Be careful to get the alignment of the pieces right the first time because it's difficult to get them apart after they've been pressed together.

nice to use on shoes ?

It can be used on shoes, but "nice" is a stretch.

is barge work good on leather sofa?

It will work but you have to follow the directions carefully. if you do not it will just fail quickly.
