Q: what is the diameter of the part that connects to the existing valve?

This fits a schrader valve and the head is about 2mm wider than the valve.

Q: Does the spare tire valve have to be removed before attaching this extender?

Do not remove the spare tire valve; there is a valve and a tire valve depressor in the extender. When you attach the extender it depresses and opens the spare tire valve, then using the extenders valve as its valve. If you took the spare tire valve out, you would have to air up the spare tire from completely un-inflated, and you would have to leave the extender attached to use the spare tire. so do not do this. The same is true of the right angle adapter.

If the airmoto pump has a standard fitting for a Schrader valve stem , yes.

I dropped my wife's spare and drug it out from under her GX460 so I could get to it since the valve stem was mounted upwards. I did use a small pair of channel locks to snug it down gently. Just don't overtighten.
