Really does what it says - sharpens your charcoal and pastel pencils with much less breakage than standard sharpeners. I never liked working with these types of pencils because I prefer the sharp points achievable with graphite and colored pencils, in order to render fine details. Now I will revisit my choice, and start working again especially with pastel pencils.You won't get the same degree of sharpness as with graphite or colored pencils, but you'll get a lot closer than with standard sharpeners. As far as breakage, that hasn't been a problem with my pastel pencils, but it is a little tricky with extra-soft charcoal pencils (not medium however). So, you may have to back off when the point is "sharp enough", and not go for an ultra-sharp point.As for the value for the money, it's true that the price seems too high for a little piece of plastic. But if it is the only way to get the sharpness you want, then it's worth it.
